Swallowtail Shawl





My swallowtail shawl is complete :)  I am really pleased with it.  As you can see, I was the model AND the photographer.  Oh the things one is capable of doing when there is a will.  I liked this pattern and thought it was easier than most to follow.  However, I have had to pick up many dropped stitches while knitting because I think the yarn, Silky Alpaca Lace is quite slippery and I was not focusing. I think a wool would be better for a beginner lace knitter.  I loved the Silky Alpaca and would knit with it again.

I know I have posted before on the wonders of blocking but I have to again.  I blocked the daylights out of this shawl after a 20 minute soak in wool wash and it came out perfectly.  I really like the lacy open look.

I know it is evil but I wish it was cold outside so I could wear it.  Patience is not one of my virtues ;)

    This turned out so beautiful. I love the lacy look, might just have to give it a try some day. I am currently knitting one of the shawls from the Estonian Lace book.

Knitting News

  Good morning to you! How are you? I'm excited about my hat that I've been knitting enjoying the sea of stockinette stitches. When I first started the hat I thought it would be too small, now I wonder if it will be too big. Gah. I will find out soon I guess. I wish the photo about showed how beautiful the colors are in real life, you'll have to trust me on this! Below is my next knitting project, the habitation throw . I will definitely use the pink and gray, I'm still not sure about that purple, I might have a look-see in my stash and do another ponder about that color. I chose this pattern because I can use up some of my stash and I adore Helen Stewart's patterns. What are you working on this week? Also: I will probably not be posting this Friday and the following Monday because of my family visiting. I hope to be back next Wednesday (unless I change my mind).
