Yarn Along


This week I am reading The Help and The Dirty Life.  Both books are really really good.  I am glad that I have two great books going on at the same time.  For knitting I am working on my Swallowtail Shawl.  I am on Chart three and each row is taking longer and longer because the shawl is getting wider.  This shawl has been a tiny challenge when I make a mistake or drop a stitch.  The yarn is slick because of the alpaca content.  I have learned not to quit mid row!  Below is a close up of the Swallowtail.  That gorgeous gold cotton yarn is going to be this pattern.  I am winding it into a ball this morning.  The yarn is sticky so it is taking longer than I thought.  My "swift" is two chairs back to back.  I think I see a possible future Christmas gift for me :)

I can honestly say that I haven't been knitting much.  We have been swamped with high school band, prom, band banquet and tonight the academic banquet.  Everyday there is something going on the calendar!  Just think in three months there will be nothing on the calendar.  I look forward to the quietness and slowness of the fall but I know I will miss my kids very much when they are off at their universities.

    I love it and the yarn you are using is beautiful. I showed my husband and told him that I wanted to knit something in the same color. He now knows what to buy as he is getting to be quite the expert in the yarn store!

    Even in those seasons of life when we are busy, busy, busy it is so nice to be able to pick up a project and just get a few stitches in, isn't it?

    I don't know if I'd ever seen the pattern you were working on for the shawl. It's stunning! I can't wait to see more of it. I hope you enjoy The Help. I read it several months ago and I couldn't put it down.

Knitting News

  Good morning to you! How are you? I'm excited about my hat that I've been knitting enjoying the sea of stockinette stitches. When I first started the hat I thought it would be too small, now I wonder if it will be too big. Gah. I will find out soon I guess. I wish the photo about showed how beautiful the colors are in real life, you'll have to trust me on this! Below is my next knitting project, the habitation throw . I will definitely use the pink and gray, I'm still not sure about that purple, I might have a look-see in my stash and do another ponder about that color. I chose this pattern because I can use up some of my stash and I adore Helen Stewart's patterns. What are you working on this week? Also: I will probably not be posting this Friday and the following Monday because of my family visiting. I hope to be back next Wednesday (unless I change my mind).
