Weekends-Special Delivery
My weekend had one main event---moving our daughter's belongings to her apartment. She has been living in a hotel for five nights and Saturday was the big move in day. We arrived around 9 a.m. to stand in line for the check in procedure. Only 45 minutes!!! See-expecting the worst does have its benefits ;)
She has a four bedroom two bath apartment that four girls share. Wow! I remember my first apartment during grad school and it did NOT look like this place. I thought her apartment was beautiful. And she has AC .....jeez!
We hit a couple of snafus that day. We found a full mattress set shoved into the kitchen area. Maintenance came and removed it within 10 minutes. Then the refrigerator was not working. Maintenance once again came and flipped the circuit breaker and all was restored to working condition.
My only complaint (you knew there would be one coming) was that we traveled in our oldest vehicle, a 1997 Ford Explorer, and the AC does not work. So I was very cranky on the ride home. Very. Imagine a temper tantrum and a hissy fit rolled into one. We gave up trying to use the fan and just opened all the windows while highway driving. I haven't done that since grad school either.
So on Friday we will be doing this all over again with our son...... he has less "stuff" but the Explorer will probably be the vehicle of choice unless we take two cars. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a cold front.
(By the way, I did not knit one stitch or ponder over a puzzle)
That kitchen is quite the spot!
ReplyDeleteAnother positive about this moving in is that there was no rain, right?
One moved in.. one more to go!
It's great! My apartment isn't that cool and I am a grown up! Glad all went well... I love riding with the windows down.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place! But, boooo explorer with no A/C. Nasty business, that. We're having a heat wave here, so I'll be hoping we both see a cold front this week!
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to the 'struggling' grad student? Wow! Looking forward to read about the freak cold front that hit just as you were pulling out the driveway to deliver your son...
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
What a beautiful apartment. Having such grand surroundings should make studying a breeze!
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are crossed that a cold front hits the East coast this week! xx
Oh I would have been cranky about the car a/c. I'm glad everything else worked out! Hey is that a container of grits I see in that bag? ;)
