Weekends

This weekend was filled with lots of shopping.  Now the shopping might be boring for some but maybe not.  We were on the search for a new bed.   There is a small furniture business that we have bought from previously.  They were hit with the flood last September (five feet!!).  A handy coupon and flyer arrived this week to persuade us that we need a bed :)

While we shopped the beds, there are many to choose from, I felt like Goldilocks......this bed is to hard, this bed is to soft etc...after selecting and paying they delivered the bed on Saturday (did I mention excellent customer service?).  My husband insisted we keep our old set and we place it in our daughter's room.  The rest of the weekend was bed switching, vacuuming, and rearranging.

Today we went to church, and I hope I don't sound like a broken record but AGAIN the people behind us were coughing. sniffing, and clearing their throats (different people). Sadly, I forgot my hand sanitzer.  So during the sign of peace we waved enthusiastically to avoid the germs.  My husband and I are thinking maybe we should try Saturday night service.  Barely anyone attends and if they do they are old.  I'll keep you up to date on the germ avoiding saga.  And yes, I have a germ phobia.

Oh and I finished the blue shawl !!!

  1. Congratulations on the new bed! We bought a new mattress a few years ago and it is so very nice.
I love the photo! I had the best time in the LYS although it was a little overwhelming.
Thanks Karen, yes, I am doing much better and just trying to stay positive.
I hope you have a great night.

  2. oh look at all that yarny goodness!!!

We visited my son and his family--and after 3 nights on the pull out sofa (that seems to double as a trampoline when not a bed)--I'm convinced we have the best bed in the world here at home!!!

Can't wait to see the shawl!

  3. Sounds like lots of fun. I'm sure you loved that first night sleep!

My husband has a germ phobia but he loves India. His love for the place overides his phobia!

Have a great week, Katie xxx

  4. yay! Oh goodness. I don't have a wedding ring, we never paid for wedding, the most expensive or romantic gift my husband gave me was minature x-mas tree- ALL BECAUSE I am holding out for a new bed! Oh gosh, a new bed. I am so envious right now (pray for me). My bed squeaks, groans, and hates me just as much as I hate it. I quite literally have a jar filled with all the coins and cash I can muster between paychecks to buy me a new bed...maybe I should start a donate paypal button on my site. :)

...all that aside, I'm happy you found the right one!

and sorry about the germs at church. I used to work at a church and came home with a cold weekend. Hopefully Saturday service works out better! Although, now that we're going into Lent and Easter it might get crowded then too.

  6. Lovely yarn. And hooray for a new bed! I hope it's nice and comfortable.

I would probably spend the entire service shuddering (or gagging). Good luck with the earlier service!

  7. We really need a new bed - ours is much too old to count the years and lumpy and uncomfortable. I think I might feel a little like Goldilocks too or maybe the Princess and the Pea?

  9. Good luck. I really think it's unavoidable this time of year. Yet, somehow we haven't had it yet... Hmmm...

O.K., try the Saturday night service, and don't forget your hand sanitizer this time!

    Blessings, Debbie

  11. First, I don't blame you for being a germaphobe. I'm the same way. If I'm that sick, I stay home. We go to Saturday night Mass all the time and love it (but ours is pretty crowded). You may like yours; at least it's worth a try.

  12. I get anxiety about bed shopping-because I know that it's a huge purchase and i'm stuck with what I buy, whether I like it in the long run or not!
We ended up with a king sized bed because we had to exchange the queen we didn't care for-and they only had a replacement for the one we did like in King!
    Hope you feel better soon!
