Yarn Crawl
My sister was very excited for this past weekend. You see, I was griping a lot on the phone (who me?). You know the stuff that happens in life that can be a tiny drain on a peaceful existence. I never complain on my blog-it is my haven and refuge. Plus I save it all for my sister and my husband, lucky them. Anyways, she planned a day trip to cheer me up. And it did! Anything to do with yarn shopping is a very happy moment.
We drove to Ligonier, PA and spent a lovely few hours in a quaint little town that has two yarn shops. First we went to Kathy's Kreations and then proceeded to Bo Peep Fine Yarns. Both yarn stores were lovely and oh so friendly. Yes, that is my sister, "hi sis!" and see that little bag-that one is mine. And that big old bag is hers-retail therapy does wonders!
We had lunch here. Below are my spoils. Starting from the left (at least I think it's my left) Dream in Color Smooshy, Dale of Norwary Ull, Socka 50 and Madeline tosh sock yarn. The two middle yarns are orphans-I just had to adopt them from the clearance bin :)
Lovely haul. I am glad you are feeling better! What a sweet treat and a sweet sister.

I get it! I totally get the cheer-up value of yarn shopping! And I totally love Madelinetosh Sock Yarn :-) What will it be, I wonder?
ReplyDeleteLooks like some good therapy!
ReplyDeleteYummy Madeline Tosh! What colorway is it?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Ligonier since I really started knitting, so I'm exciting for the next time we're there and I can visit these stores! (And isn't Kathy Zimmerman related to Elizabeth Zimmerman, or am I making that up?) Maybe we'll drive over once the leaves start to turn ...
I want to do a yarn crawl so badly! looks like you had such fun!
ReplyDeleteRetail therapy is so wonderful! Sometimes I can just walk through the LYS petting and coveting and feel better. Glad you had a lovely visit!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty little town. I just google mapped it to see how close to Gettysburg it is. We're going to Gettysburg next week. But it doesn't look close. Although I'm sure there are cute yarn stores in Gettysburg too.
ReplyDeleteOooh some great shops and purchases :) love the pink bags too, hope you are having a happy week sweetie
ReplyDeleteBee happy x
pretty town, pretty pics, and especially pretty yarn!
ReplyDeletea little retail therapy never hurt no one. ; )
XO
I think I may need a similar outing. I am a bit discouraged and the overeating is not helping my mood. Perhaps yarn will.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little outing! I could use some retail therapy right about now ;)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh what beauties! I am in serious need of a yarn crawl to lift me up too. Except right now mine would have to be "look but don't touch" :-/ but even that may help!! I'm so glad it helped lift your spirits!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely way to be cheered up. Your sister had a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI need one of those myself ;o)
That green is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a yarn crawl, but it sounds like a wonderful way to cheer up.
ReplyDeleteYour sister is so pretty. Who is the oldest? I am the oldest by two years in my family, then my sisters are 14 months apart.
I am older by three years. There is just the two of us and we are close :)
Deleteyour day sounds like it was so much fun. shopping with sisters is the best of all therapies, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeletethe yarn you picked is beautiful!
hooray, Karen ~ it is your left this time (and mine also :) ...)
ReplyDeleteI recognize that madtosh sock colorway ~ jade? I made a pair of socks from it this year (shocking ~ me and socks, an unlikely combo!) that are a test knit so all I could post on Rav is the generic bottom of the foot and toe. kind of sad since it's only my 2nd pair of socks in 5 years of knitting and I want to BRAG!!
I love the Bo Peep shop ~ very cute name! glad you had a fun (cleansing) weekend with your sister!
Melissa
I love your therapy :) I need some.
ReplyDeletegreat haul!!!! (great sis!!!!!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little town. Sometimes it does one wonders just to step out of our little box and take a deep breath. So glad you had a good time with your sis ~ I have two and know how wonderful that time can be!
ReplyDeleteGot to love a good yarn crawl! Especially when you need a pick-me-up. I'm glad you rescued some orphaned yarn. It will turn into something lovely I'm sure. Madtosh yarn is hard to come by over here and when you do it is rather expensive. I assume it is more readily available in the States. I love the green you picked out. Jacinta
ReplyDeleteRetail yarn therapy is my favorite therapy (makes me wonder if the hubs realizes this, too, and that's why he has been whisking me to the yarn shop so much as of late!).
ReplyDeleteI think you have made some excellent choices in yarn! What did your sister pick up??
That Madelinetosh is the colour of a shady woodland in summer. Love it!
