Weekends
This weekend saw me choosing a new cell phone (finally) and watching my husband not choose one. He's like that and it's amusing. We picked up Chinese food and donuts which has now lead to a healthy Sunday dinner to promote detoxing of the salt. I think just looking at Chinese food can add 6 lbs. You know I firmly believe donuts are inherently good for you-they come in the colors of fruit??
Saturday was a lazy day. I knit, read, puzzled and did almost nothing. It was fun. Have you been hearing the birds singing early in the morning? I've been enjoying that when Frodo and I get the newspaper. After the silence of winter, their singing is quite noticeable. We resumed watching some Star Trek episodes, season one from the original series, always entertaining that my husband knows each and every single episode.
Today we went to church, I caught up on some correspondence with friends via snail mail, paid bills, and am running some laundry. Later I'll chat with one or two of the kids. In the evening I'll be knitting.
How was your weekend?
How funny, we have been watching original Star Trek episodes too. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend! We haven't had Chinese since New Year's Eve. My husband has been begging for it ever since. I think that sounds good for next weekend! We got donuts this morning too! Our tradition after Sunday Mass each week! (That's how we get Ree to sit semi quietly during Mass, with the promise of donuts!) I too have noticed the birds just in the past few days. I am SO READY for spring!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend so far. I do love Chinese food, but I seem to get heartburn every time we eat it. :-( I can't tell my kids how you think about donuts, otherwise they'll start asking for them all the time... ;-)
ReplyDeletedefinitely been hearing birds!
ReplyDeleteand yes, chinese food means lots and lots of water. hope your healthy sunday dinner is tasty :)
My daughter loves Chinese food, but we often try to steer from it due to the saltiness. Must drink loads of water. Not noticing as many birds, but it may be because we are very citified right now.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely weekend! I recently got a new phone too and I am still getting to know it. And snail mail! Yes! I always think it's an artform that must be preserved and revived :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week ahead.
what a perfect 'do-nothing, yet accomplish a lot' kind of weekend!!!! hope your week is just as wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course donuts are good for you and don't let anyone tell you anything different! :)
ReplyDeleteSomehow that picture of the beautiful stationery with fun pens gave me the urge to carefully pen a thank you note or something, on real paper, with real pens, not email! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely - I adore your donut philosophy! :) We haven't heard any birds here yet - but I can't wait for that to start happening - it's one of my favorite things!
ReplyDeleteA lovely weekend. I too love to write notes and put them in the mail to friends.
ReplyDeleteWe've been hearing birds here, too! A sure sign that spring is coming. I do love the winter, but right around now, every year, I start to crave warm weather. I think it's right around the corner… xo
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a lovely weekend! I too have been noticing birds chirping in the morning. So has the cat:-)
ReplyDeletea lazy sunday sounds fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed the birds singing the other day, I think they're a little confused though. Can't wait for the time when they wake me up with their singing again, it's such a beautiful start to the day.
ReplyDeleteI love a handwritten note. And your little zip bag ;)
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds lovely and I hope you have a wonderful visit with your daughter ~ this week?
That sounds like absolutely the best kind of weekend, kinda productive but also pretty relaxed.
ReplyDeleteMine? Chaotic! Which sadly is the way it is here just now.
I'm glad there's someone else out there who still loves old fashioned mail. I was starting to wondering if I was the only one....
ReplyDeleteWe made chicken fried rice for dinner the other night. Super easy. Just not as tasty as ftom the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteHusbands are very amusing, I agree. LOL.
ReplyDeleteXO
If we were watching Star Trek, I'd be the one that knows all the episodes...such a nerd :) Our Saturday was pretty lazy too....lots of icky rain.
