Weekends
On my daily walk, I'm lucky to pass a duck pond, over the weekend these geese were so busy splashing about they forgot to swim away. Usually they honk and make a huge to do, I guess they were living in the moment and enjoying themselves.
My weekend was a fine one. Sunshine was abundant and the temperatures were nice enough to be out in a light jacket. All the trees and bushes are budding and it smells like spring. It's getting near the time to pack up all the wool shawls and accessories.
I started some oh so simple yoga routines for the morning. A mere 15 minutes. Can I confess that I'm sore from head to toe? Yep. Walking is heart healthy but it does nothing for being flexible and limber. I am very committed to doing the routines. I'm using this app.
I'm also cleaning up the diet. I've been tiring of the same meals, the same slow feeling. So I dusted off my whole food cookbooks and have been sketching out some meals that are new. Loaded with vegetables and flavor. Over the weekend we had broccoli noodles with thai peanut sauce (this is slurpy good!!) and my husband did his famous curry dinner. Delicious! I must confess that not all was healthy...donuts were in the house but don't worry they're gone now ;)
So with the yoga and walking and healthier eating, I'm feeling pretty energetic! Fun for me :)
How was your weekend? Do you have any good meals to share or yoga tips? I'd love to hear them!

I'm hoping the spring weather comes up here this week! I'm so ready to get outside!
ReplyDeleteI started yoga again about 2 weeks ago. It's amazing how much of a workout it is! We're doing a heart walk/run in May & I really want to be in better shape so the exercise routine is getting serious now! This week I want to focus on the meals. Like you, I'm tired of the slow feeling. I desperately want more energy!
We are dusting off the cookbooks too, I'd love to hear any good recipes you find x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a real good weekend to me! I find it easier to eat healthier when the warmer weather comes. Probably because fruits and veggies are in season. I will have to check out that yoga app. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I took yoga for 20 years and was an instructor for 8 of those years. I think some gentle yoga is great. It's all the pretzel twisting that can do(some) bodies harm, in my opinion.

so glad to know those donuts are no longer in the house *wink wink*
ReplyDeletei have studied yoga for years and it does a body (and mind) good!
What a wonderful weekend! Sounds refreshing and wholesome :) Off to check out the yoga app. There are days when I cant make it into the studio to practice because of the littles so that app could come in handy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend. Thanks for the app on yoga. I too love to walk but as you said does nothing for being limber :)
ReplyDeleteNo yoga tips, no eating tips, but I love the ducks and geese!
ReplyDeleteAfter working in the garden over the weekend and feeling more sore than I should, I think a small morning yoga practice would be a good thing to add to my day. Love your spring walk. I can see that little glimmer of a green haze happening on the shrubs in the background. More good things to come!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteYoga is a wonderful thing...once you get used to it. I have felt that deep soreness as well, a while back. Now I'm just lazy :)
ReplyDeleteI used to do yoga and the breath work really helped with my running. I'm hoping that after my shoulder surgery I will be able to do some yoga again because I really do miss it. I'm super jealous of your daffodils. It's snowing here again! We've gotten 8 inches so far today.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a little spring cleaning on *you*! A wonderful idea. :)
ReplyDeleteThe duck pond is lovely. We had one in Hartford that we used to visit every other day or so in the nice weather. The kids miss it; the park here is too far away to walk to more than once a week, and there are no ducks in the pond. xo
Sounds lovely! Glad to see you are getting some sunshine after all the snow:) I am no yoga expert, but I really should do it much more to help my back. I remember getting sore from it too! We are also having some healthier meals last week after our week of vacation--good to see greens and grains again, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI've been adding yoga twice a week and I feel like I have found my home again. I stopped after my third son was born because it was hard to find time. And clean eating makes such a difference! Hooray for you! Self care is a beautiful thing:) XO
