Weekends and Knitting
The weekend was a perfect summer weekend, the heat wave ended and no plans were pressing on anyone's schedule. Our son came home for rest and relaxation before the last two weeks of his research program. We all joined in-nothing was accomplished in great magnitude.
-puttered about in my studio-tweaking the organizing
-knit the first sleeve which is still on the needles but nearly oh so nearly to the cuff
-made mac and and cheese from scratch only to give all the leftovers to him to take back
-made two loaves of banana nut bread-again one loaf was donated to the cause
-dinner out, movie night in-we watched Rain Man
-engaged in a bit of daydreaming, trips to maybe take or not
How was your weekend?

Ours sounded a bit like yours Karen, some activity but a lot of pottering. And the day dreaming too, we're making plans for the not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteGlad yours was good.

We moms tend to take care of our boys no matter how old they are! I still send leftovers home with my boys and they are 29 and 24! Sounds like a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteA lovely weekend we had! I enjoy reading your blog and daydreaming about the things I'll do when MY girls are gone...I don't wish them gone now, but it's good to look ahead and think about things I'll do in their absence.
ReplyDeleteIt's a new phase in life that I just love, as you can tell.
DeleteSounds like a good weekend. We did the same with the cooking. Made lots and sent all the leftovers back with my daughter's boyfriend in the Navy so he can enjoy during the week.
ReplyDeleteI love the journals! Sounds like a great weekend with your son. I hope his knee is feeling better! My mom still does that with food & us girls too! It's nice to have mom made food still :-)
ReplyDeleteMy sister makes me food and I do love that! His knee is much better!!
Deletelittle puttering here...a little puttering there!! all with family.....sounds really really good to me!!!!!! and new (?) journals? Did you do the little heart embellishment??? very cute!
ReplyDeleteThe embellishment is part of the notebook print, made by the notebook people, not me.
DeleteI love unhurried, unplanned relaxing weekends best. Yours sounds perfect. : ) So glad you got to spend time with your son (I bet he's glad to be going home with those goodies!). Hope his knee is feeling better after a weekend with mom.
ReplyDeleteHe made a quick recovery ;) wondering if it was the excuse to be home??
DeleteSounds like you had a very nice weekend. We went up to TN to visit "Amish country" for a while on Saturday (bought a few things :-)) and then Sunday it was moving furniture and ripping out carpets. To make up for the hard work, our youngest and I went shopping afterward. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou describe such a nice weekend. I'm glad you enjoyed your family time. I finished up some spinning, did a little shopping and ate at one of our favorite restaurants.
ReplyDeleteif i promise to visit and bring the wee lass for cuddles will you send me home with homemade mac + cheese and a loaf of banana bread? PRETTY PLEASE?
ReplyDeleteYES!
DeleteThat sounds like the best kind of weekend! It was a bit crazy here ... I went indigo dyeing!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're out of the heatwave! we too clawed our way out of it this weekend. Sweet relief!
ReplyDeleteHomemade Mac and cheese, yummy!! You have a lucky son ;)
We had a busy weekend where we didn't seem to accomplish much. Many of those around here, these days...
ReplyDeleteI love your little notebooks! xo
Spent most of our weekend "on-call" at DD's house. Would she or wouldn't she? She didn't. Doc is hoping she will make 37 weeks, and we are, too. Sleeves, to me, are like a second and third back. Good job on completing also one!
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished yet, but nearly there, how exciting to be with your dd during the big wait :)
DeleteOoh, sounds perfect. Especially the mac & chz and the banana bread! So happy to hear the heat wave let up ~ brutal. And just love those mini colored clips. It's all in the details ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect! Our heat wave ended tonight. Only in the midwest can you go from a sleeveless shirt to a sweatshirt in the same day! :)
ReplyDeletesounds relaxing! We were in Colorado, which was quite an adventure!!
ReplyDelete"Nothing was accomplished in great magnitude." I think that should be everyone's summer manifesto! Sounds like a beautiful weekend--those are the ones I love the best, when a few activities are scattered here and there, but mostly it's about good food and relaxing with the people you love the best.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good weekend, how lovely to have your son home. Love the notebooks :)
