Waterfall Gorge

As you might have guessed, we are the kind of people that hardly ever take serious photos and this is one of them.  I'd like to think it's because I'm pouting about my horrible hair, but I was being silly.  Pulling one of many faces.  The fact is my hair was awful up in Lake Placid because it was drizzly every day.  I pulled it back and ignored it for most of the time. Thank goodness there aren't mirrors in the wilderness.

While we were at Lake Placid, we did a "touristy" outing, who can resist?  This place is High Falls Gorge and it was worth the admittance price.  The trails and bridges and walkways were perfectly maintained and we had fun.  Stairs going up, stairs going down, lots of landing porches for photography and signs explaining the gorge making process and some botany lessons.

All of the photos were taken by my husband.  He was using his iphone but I had a fear of him dropping his iphone in the falls (I know I have to quit with the negative thinking). So I surrendered my big camera and strapped it around his neck and let him at it.  He does take beautiful landscape photos!

We do have the obligatory photo of us together taken by the token stranger but I didn't like it very much. That's what you get for free :)  Also we have a few "selfies" but those are squinty eyed and not very good either, apparently photographing knitwear inside my kitchen is my talent.

Is that not a gorgeous (get it gorge-ous) view??  I was amazed and in awe of these rocks and skyline. The air was fresh and clean and both of us enjoyed being in the moment.

  5. So beautiful, and sounds like perfect weather for the outing (I say as I am still sweating it out in 90 degree weather in the South)!

  6. Great photos; I love that twisted tree! We were at Watkins Glen this summer and did see someone drop their iphone in the falls/gorge. I wouldn't call your thinking negative; I'd classify it as realistic!

  7. It's breathtaking absolutely beautiful, my kind of scenery. I know what you mean about the hair though mine was like that on the beach photo...I couldn't keep it out of my eyes. It's lovely to be in nature and not have to worry about things like our hair or what we're wearing though. I think you look lovely. Thanks for sharing your photos.

  21. I do love a waterfall. And these are great images, I swear I can hear the water rushing through! We were at Conwy Falls here in Wales on Saturday and there were salmon leaping but sadly I didn't get a photo.
