Weekends
My weekend involved traveling to see my sister and my family. My husband had a presentation in downtown Pittsburgh on Friday morning so we planned a weekend to mix business with pleasure. What fun we had. I was able to spend quality time with my sister relaxing, knitting and talking.
The weather was perfect and I wore my jean jacket which looked pretty good. I even wore one of my knit shawlettes with comfort-oh fall, I do love you so! From the weather forecast it appears that we will continue to see cooler temperatures this week.
There was apple cake, corn on the cob, brussel sprouts, the best tossed salad ever, homemade mini pizzas, and smores.
Besides my sister and brother in law, we visited my aunt and uncle, my dad and step mother AND stopped to see our son for lunch at his school. The weekend was packed with hellos and goodbyes quickly catching up on snippets of news.
Yesterday we arrived home, unpacked, picked up a very wiggly happy dog, took a walk, did some laundry and managed to create a quick dinner. My to do list is piled high but I'm happy to be back home and look forward to tackling the tasks.
how was your weekend?

What a wonderful weekend you've had, Karen! Pittsburgh is only two hours away from us and we actually fly out of Pittsburgh when we need to travel. Glad you had quality time with your sister!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm apple cake! I just love all that Fall brings! Your weekend sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend- nothing like catching up with family. That is neat that your sister is a knitter too. We watched the kids soccer games, went swimming and ate ice cream, made yummy Caesar salad for dinner
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend! Family, good food, knitting, fall weather, what more could one want!
ReplyDeleteFall is a good time to visit Pittsburgh! :)
ReplyDeleteconnecting with family....the best!!!! why do we always save apple cake for fall???? It's so yummmmy!!!
ReplyDelete(my cousins still live in Pittsburgh....don't get to see them nearly enough----but really wanted to meet up with the cousin closest in age to me---he was in Ireland!!! Doesn't that sound like fun, too? I can't believe he went without me!)
I just had to google 'Smores' to find out what they are...they look scrumptious. We were thinking about brussel sprouts last night as we had our Sunday roast supper with pointy cabbage and I was wondering the sprouts will be in season and thinking of Christmas dinner.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see your sister...One of mine might be visiting this week I do hope she manages to get over...Glad you managed to fit in your walk yesterday.
Have a great week

ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like a really fun weekend Karen. We are experiencing fall here too and loving every minute of it. Wishing you the most wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend! We didn't get into downtown when we were in PA in July, so hopefully we'll make in back there in a year or two. Hope so. :) We're into rain. Cool and rainy which is typical for the Pacific NW. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful weekend! I think it's great to see people, however fleeting the visit, especially at this time of year knowing that you can cosy down and enjoy the cooler seasons relaxed and knowing that everyone's ok.
ReplyDeleteGet out! I went on a road trip with my sister and mom to see my (other) sister and her family this past weekend...it was our first trip to their new home in Pittsburgh, PA! We could have bumped into each other without even knowing it...drats! We ate and talked...talked and ate. Sounds like you did much the same. :)
ReplyDeleteFun! I have a dear friend who is from Pittsburgh, and I think she will be getting married there sometime in the next year or so. I am excited to see the city!
