The After

Good morning!  Have you all survived the holiday?  We are still in the midst of celebrating, tonight we have good friends coming to our house to share a meal together.  I'm looking forward to the evening.  However, there is more kitchen work to be done.  I feel like I've been away from this space for weeks and it's only been a few days.  I'm hoping to catch up with all of your posts in the next few days.

Christmas Eve dinner is usually appetizers because Mass is at 5 p.m. and the thought of not eating until 8 p.m. is just crazy.  Don't forget I'm on the senior citizen eating schedule (even though I'm not a senior yet!).  So appetizers fit the necessity and for after Mass we had pumpkin pie with whipped cream piled high.  Yum!

My son received this board game Go!  I played on Christmas day, and I lost.  I have to be honest but I am fantastic at games with words.  This game was like connect the dots but more complex and for some reason it wasn't making much sense.  I did spend loads of time playing logic games on my ipad-woefully slow but accurate.  All this problem solving thinking should protect my aging brain, right?

I had to get this photo of poor poor Frodo on Christmas day-he was exhausted just from an hour of opening gifts.  He loves his new squeaky toy!

have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

  4. Those nibbles look tasty, and the pumpkin pie sounds amazing. I love the photo of Frodo...I wonder if you'll get to see the new Hobbit film over the holidays. It's on our "hope to do" list...

  5. Well, now I am hungry for pumpkin pie... with whipped cream! I've added Grammar Girl's Grammar Pop game to my iPad. Buzzed through the first 9 levels and am now feeling quite addled as I try to move ahead. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

  7. Sounds wonderful. We solved the Christmas Eve dinner problem by eating small before and getting Chinese on the way home from Mass. ;-)

  8. Appetizers are a win anytime I think. We are on a toddler eating schedule so I know about eating early too! :)

  10. Seeing all that good food made me hungry! There was just the two of us for Christmas so there was no major cooking. We had a big pot of soup and I will not complain about that--it was great! I wish you and yours a great New Year and look forward to seeing what you are reading and have on your needles. I know there will be something wonderful,
    Love, Marie

  11. I want to eat the game. It looks like M&Ms. Frodo looks like he was having a grand time. We have had to stagger the gift giving to Mowgli. He tears them up so quickly. We try to give him a new one every couple of days. Enjoy your weekend!

  12. I'm very intrigued by the game "Go". It seems like a game that my girls would like...simple but challenging...and they would probably beat me at it.
