Weekends
Can you believe that Christmas is only two days away? Seems like Advent flew by, well at least for me. My weekend was kind of slow and yet felt busy. I think it's because I'm cooking every day. Don't forget that I do an early morning tidy of the coffee table that isn't too bad right now. Christmas day will be at it's worse.
Every day we have watched a holiday movie as a family. Last minute shopping has been finished, all the presents are wrapped. The baking has been completed on an as needed basis. That system is working for me and avoiding weight gain. I'm knitting small projects for a small attention span. Yesterday it was warm for a walk with a spring jacket-unheard of!
In the above photo on the table is an origami menger sponge that my son is building for the fun of it out of post it notes. I think he is 1/3 done? Not sure. There are a LOT of post it notes going into this!
How was your weekend?

Sounds like a nice, relaxing, pre-Christmas weekend. Have a wonderful Christmas and lovely new year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are soaking into the season and enjoying the time with your kids home.
ReplyDeleteWow on that origami, amazing!
Have a lovely day Karen.
Yes, Advent did seem to just fly by and I can't believe Christmas is here. Enjoy your family time, the laughter, the food, the Christmas movies... Wishing you and yours the very best!
ReplyDeleteyou will miss the messy coffee table... up early here on the west coast (it is not even 6 a.m. -- couldn't sleep!). Checking my lists, sipping coffee by the fire with my laptop, and trying to be quiet so as not to wake anyone. Wishing you and yours a most merry holiday, dear Karen! ~Lisa
ReplyDeletePS: My tea leaves is finished :)
It was a busy weekend, which is no surprise. There was knitting (also no surprise) a bit of baking, still some more shopping, cleaning up and enjoying the company of my parents.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool structure. Be sure to let us see it when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteYou have my sympathy on the coffee table front. With us it's the main table. I clear it up and up it fills again ... maybe Santa can arrange an elf or something!
A very merry Christmas to you and your family, Karen!
ReplyDeletei'm laughing about your early morning coffee table clean up because i'm always the last to go to bed and i do a sweep of the living room before i do - remotes put up, no toys to step on in the dark, etc.
ReplyDeletemerry christmas!
Everything looks lovely Karen. We all actually dressed our tree today so it feels like Christmas really is here at last. Glad your children are home. Hannah is home now, just the three of us for the next couple of days before other family visitors arrive. Happy days

sooooooo now I know what a menger sponge is!!! (this looks like something my son would have really gotten into---before 5 kids!) i'm glad there was a free corner of the coffee table for this work of art!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have Christmas under control! I'll have to suggest the Menger Sponge idea to my math grad. school son if he needs something fun to do over break. Right now he's recovering from finals and qualifying exams, but when he catches up on sleep this looks like a fun project. Maybe your son can try some hyperbolic crochet when he finishes his Menger Sponge! Merry Christmas to you and your whole family!
ReplyDeleteThat Menger Sponge is so cool! Yes, Christmas is 2 days away. I think I'm about as ready as I am going to be. I'm working tomorrow, so my husband has commandeered Xmas eve dinner with our families. Tonight, I'll work some dessert and then touch lots of yarn!!
ReplyDeletei agree, this December is the fastest one yet! Merry Christmas, Karen.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen....Merry Christmas and warm wishes for 2014.
