Book Piles, Pens and Notebooks

I am in the midst of some family gatherings filled with laughter and good food. After this weekend, I will be saying goodbye to the kids and hello to my house.  This winter break has been a good one. The days were slow and mindful with a few excursions. Have I ever told you that we all are avid book readers? Our tastes differ widely but the fervent excitement to share a plot is the same with each one of us.  So I wave goodbye to the book piles, the pens-so many of them.  Along with opinions of books we each have an opinion of favorite pens and notebooks.

I've been daydreaming of sorts each morning about what I'd like to do to the house.  My imaginations take me furniture shopping for a shelf for the foyer or more than likely,  rearranging what I already own and save a bit of money. I'm itching to freshen up the family room and kitchen.  I get like this every January-a new year and a new to me looking space.

Have a good weekend!

(The photo was during the deep freeze-Frodo had to be wrapped up to recover)

  1. A family of book lovers - how wonderful! I also like to freshen things up in January. Seems appropriate. Hope things are a bit warmer where you are now. Have a good day.

  2. We are a book loving family too and constantly swap and share them. I currently waiting for Hannah to finish her essay so I can borrow hers. Sweet Frodo...
I've been doing a bit of daydreaming too. I've started to gather ideas for the new house even though isn't quite on the market yet and I have no idea where our new one will be. It's very exciting. Maybe we can swap some design ideas.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Whoops please excuse my awful grammar...I think you know what I mean. You would be excused for thinking I'd never read a book in my life before wouldn't you, judging by the way I write!

  4. I've been thinking along the same lines as to how I change up things around here a bit. My focus is getting the mud room the way I want it...better use of the small space and ways to keep it a wee bit more clutter free. :) Lists...that's what I'm thinking for the weekend! Gotta make them to keep the momentum up!

  8. January must be the time of year we need to re-nest and rearrange, I've been painting, cleaning, and dreaming of fixing up "my" room. As soon as I can afford a comfy chair it will be reclaimed as my library room. Frodo looks so cozy!

  9. Karen, I do wish we lived closer so we could redo our homes together. I was just telling Mike I want to redo the den and all he did was shake his head in disbelieve. Oh, this man I married! :)
I know it will be bitter sweet with you babies leaving, I'll be thinking of you.

  10. I guess we're a "house divided". :-) Our oldest daughter and me love to read and always have a stack of books nearby. Hubby and youngest daughter, not so much... I'm itching to "freshen up" here as well. I see a trip to Lowe's for paint and supplies in my near future. ;-) Have a wonderful weekend!

  11. I love Frodo in the midst of the wool! I would like to just "find" my house among the chaos lately - redecorating will follow. With my mom being an interior decorator you would think I would have it all together but sadly that is far from the truth.

  12. I bet it will feel weird with the kids gone again - but back to being neat and tidy SMILE. Frodo is a lucky fella to get tucked up warm.

I hope you find wonder and creativity to make and do with your home.
Ps. I think Frodo has the right idea...he .he

  19. I'm wanting to spruce up my home just now, too. I'd like to give my kitchen a mini-makeover with paint, new hardware and curtains. I'm glad that you and your family had a good break together sharing books, pens, and conversation. Have a great weekend! : )

  20. Frodo looks cute cozied up in the cover. We have a bathroom remodel coming up soon. I'll grumble about the mess, but it will be fun to have a new look.

  21. I'm sure your house will feel so much bigger once it's just the two of you (and Frodo) again. Most of my family are avid readers as well. My husband doesn't read books and doesn't understand how we can have such conversations about books.
