Promises from Spring
Outside yesterday I thought I'd better take photos of the snow because we will be above freezing and I'm sure the big melt will occur. Good bye snow, I've loved you so. This week I've been a fickle girl, you know I love snow and winter but there were moments when I wistfully wished for a light jacket, a pair of shoes instead of boots. The thoughts were fleeting but yes, I thought longingly of some early spring like weather.
My days of cooking for two are over temporarily because spring breaks start for each kid. My daughter comes home tomorrow for a week and next weekend both kids will be home with an overlap of three days (cooking for four! full house!). I'm looking forward to their visits :)
Have you noticed how the light has changed? Daybreak is early, and the sunset is later. Around five oclock in the evening (afternoon?) the sun hits my one window and casts shadows on the wall-just lovely. Little promises from the spring season.
Have a good weekend!
Lovely, lovely snow...it all looks so beautiful. I missed having any this year but like you I'm getting ready for spring. The sun is shining and everything coming back to life, the days seem so much longer now.
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing spring break with your family.

The light has definitely changed here. :)
ReplyDeleteI have noticed the light, too. At 5:30 we still have sunshine and it's at just about the same angle as it was during Thanksgiving. I also know spring is on the way because the birds are singing their heads off and I'm having to take allergy meds again. HA!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I've loved having a real winter this year. But the other day, I did wish for a chance to not wear my boots to get around. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, and enjoy your visitors!
I find myself eating later and later just so I can eat by candle light. I've been setting the alarm all week [something I don't usually do] so I can prepare myself for the time change, this one is not my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend with your daughter.
You are right, the light has definitely changed. Just a few weeks ago it was still pitch black at 6:00 in the morning, and now I can let the girls out by then already. Longer days makes for more eggs! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've certainly whined about the amounts of snow and ice we've gotten this winter, but I will miss how it transforms everything. I definitely won't miss the shoveling!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a surprise to me just how much the return of children changes the house. Even though I cooked, cleaned, and did laundry for 4 people for many years, I quickly adapted to the ease of doing those chores for just the two of us. I hope your weekend, visits from the kids, and promises of spring are all wonderful!
no denying it.....spring is coming, but just think....we'll have something to look forward to again!!! (weather wise....I doubt we'll have a great winter like this one has been but we can dream!!!) above freezing here today, too,---goodbye ice.
ReplyDeleteI love winter and snow and wish we got more of it here. But-- it is a lot of work. Spring is always a welcome change for me. I just get giddy to see all of the flowers.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Yes - and all that lighting will change this weekend again with the change of the clocks. But I'm OK with it. It brings the promise of Spring. How fun that both kids will be home will you soon!
ReplyDeleteENjoy that spring break time with the kids!!!!! Take them out to eat and enjoy
ReplyDeleteWe have noticed the changing light, mostly because we no longer need our candles at dinner time, although we will light them. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy spring break with your kids and the longer days, too. Hard to believe that DST starts this weekend; then it really will be lighter in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteOur days are beginning to get a little shorter but the days are still beautifully warm. Enjoy the time with your family
ReplyDeleteI wore sneakers to work yesterday for the first time since the beginning of the year and was so giddy with myself. I was even happier that the ice block that built up in the wheel well on my car finally was gone completely, too. I'm not looking forward to all that snow melting, but you know what, the promise of spring is so worth it. I love winter, I truly do, but I am very much ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend and enjoy those breaks with your kiddos!
Karen, I remember how happy I was when my children came home from college even if only for a day or two. The house is so quiet without them all, isn't it? Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteaww, have a great time with your upcoming full house and melting snow.
ReplyDeletewe are seeing pink buds on the peach tree...it's a comin'!
XO
