Fall Acquisitions

Since last November, I've been on a yarn diet of sorts.  I looked about my studio and saw lovely yarns I've bought.  Skeins and skeins sitting and waiting to be knit into a new project.  I've made a conscious effort to not buy yarn unless I am unable to find a suitable substitute in my studio.  The challenge was fun and I did dig through some old skeins that have made me a happy knitter and a thrifty one since I was knitting from the stash.

Fall arrives gently during September, I love the shift in the light, the air and the leaves dropping.  With this change comes an overwhelming urge to purchase new yarns.  I decided to place on hold my thriftiness and indulge in some decadent purchases.  Ah, I do love to buy yarn almost as much as knitting the yarns.

First photo, second photo and last photo.  If you know me well, you know I have no specific plans for any of these skeins.  I just succumbed to their beauty :) The new to me mohair fiber will more than likely be a shawl, the fingering weight....has no project planned and the trio of jaggerspun might be some colorwork project.  Oh the possibilities!

Have a lovely weekend!!

  1. Like you I haven't bought yarn in several month (in my opinion the yarn purchased in New Orleans for my color affection doesn't count because it was my souvenir ;-) ) but I can feel the urge to purchase some. I ordered a new pattern yesterday and I NEED the yarn to knit it up. I was able to step away from the computer yesterday before buying some, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to hold out. ;-)
You bought some beautiful yarn and I can't wait to see what you'll knit with it.
    Have a great weekend!

  2. There must have been something in the air because I was on a yarn hold too, but it's it great that we all had that 'oh, I got new yarn' feeling? Some times you just need new yarn and yours is very pretty.
Have a beautiful weekend my friend.

  18. I think I like buying yarn more than knitting - all the possibility of what it can become remains. But I do love the knitting, too. These skeins are sure to transform into something lovely.

  24. I did not go to Endless Mountain Fiber Festival this year. It was the first time I missed it in years. It's always such a great time. I decided to really try to reduce stash and passed on going this year. A friend surprised me with a skein from Mt. Rutsen Studio. They were my favorite last year. I know you'll like that yarn. Great colors in your skein

    1. I'm a little excited about that yarn, but I'll save it for later. I missed last year and was excited to go this year, I would have mingled and stayed longer if it wasn't so hot and humid out on Saturday.
