Christmas Coffee Table


Good morning!  Did you have a good Christmas?  I hope so.  As always is my tradition, I like to take a photo of my coffee table in all of its messy glory.  This year the mess seems less but that doesn't change how I feel when I look at it.  I want to tidy it up, straighten the piles, move the piles.  This morning I did move a few items.  But then, they get moved back to where they were.

Books galore are scattered about, some left opened to a page, some have a bookmark.  After every package was opened, each of us had our noses in a book.  I love that my family is a reading family, I could not imagine not having that!!

My knitting has been hit or miss since a dinner had to be made,  helping hands made the preparation faster and the clean up speedy but still, I'm the one in charge.

Last night we watched "It's a Wonderful Life".  I love George Bailey and his ordinary yet extraordinary life.  I wonder how each of us un-seemingly touches the destiny of others we meet in life.  Quite thought provoking! 

So today will be my daughter trying on wedding dresses day, wish her (me!) luck.  I'm looking forward to more book reading, gathering with friends and being with my family.

    It's a Wonderful Life reminds every year how important even the smallest kindness can be in someone else's life and that each friend we have is a great blessing. Your coffee table speaks a thousand words about the wonderful Christmas your family had!

    Enjoy the day with your daughter! So magical in itself. We do bridesmaid dress shopping tomorrow. The designer and fabric and color have been chosen, but the girls get to pick their style tomorrow:)

    Oh my goodness, wedding dress shopping... What a fun and exciting time this must be for you and especially your daughter. I hope she finds the dress of her dreams! We're a "family divided" when it comes to reading. Our oldest and I love to read (most of the things on her wish list were books) while hubby and our youngest could take it or leave it.

    hope you enjoyed the day with Rachel....did you cry? (I did when Robyn was trying on dresses.....happy cry, but cry nonetheless!!!!) Glad to see the coffee table photo....I spent the day putting all the decorations away. (We leave in the morning, and I just couldn't bear to come home to face that!!!!!!) Enjoy the weekend!

    Lots of books from family to one another this year for us too! I'm thrilled. Alex and Me about an amazing researcher and parrot, making of the Princess Bride. And yarn!

    Your Christmas coffee table looks wonderful. :) I too love a reading family. There is something about the bonding that takes place when each person reading their own book but together.

Knitting News

  Good morning to you! How are you? I'm excited about my hat that I've been knitting enjoying the sea of stockinette stitches. When I first started the hat I thought it would be too small, now I wonder if it will be too big. Gah. I will find out soon I guess. I wish the photo about showed how beautiful the colors are in real life, you'll have to trust me on this! Below is my next knitting project, the habitation throw . I will definitely use the pink and gray, I'm still not sure about that purple, I might have a look-see in my stash and do another ponder about that color. I chose this pattern because I can use up some of my stash and I adore Helen Stewart's patterns. What are you working on this week? Also: I will probably not be posting this Friday and the following Monday because of my family visiting. I hope to be back next Wednesday (unless I change my mind).
