Snow
The predicted snow never arrived however, an unpredicted snowfall arrived 24 hours later. I think waking up to a snow surprise will never get tiring for me. Plans were altered and changed, and a few hours were found that could be used wisely. A few minutes more of reading and knitting.
Are you ready for the holidays? How is the planning going for you? A preliminary check of my shopping list says I'm done shopping for the kids and only Frodo and my husband remain. Frodo is the easier one of course. I'm looking for a new washable bed for him (Frodo) at local stores. I have yet been struck with the perfect gift for my husband.
Since the children were little, I start the shopping in October and paced myself. I dislike feeling rushed or pressured and above all, I avoid crowds! December for me is a time of relaxing and baking, wrapping gifts, and getting together with friends. The tradition to slow down is firmly planted and one that will not alter much as life changes year to year.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend!
It looks idyllic, but of course I am not having to live with it. I have finished all my shopping, crafting and wrapping just some baking left to do. I am enjoying precious time with my Grandson. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble with the husband gift, too. I'd like to give him a good snowfall, but that is beyond my control. Love the beautiful quiet of your photos.
ReplyDeleteYay, you got your snow!!! What a wonderful surprise for you, must have made your day. :-) I am completely done shopping. Some was done locally, but most was done online. I've not done a lot of baking yet, but plan on changing that starting today. Have a beautiful weekend!
ReplyDeleteKaren, you got your snow! I am so happy for you and wish I could bring my tea cup and knitting on a little road trip, sit beside you talking and enjoying the beautiful view.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it all my dear friend.
Oh... i so happy you got your winter wonderland !!! my shopping for christmas is almost done too and i am settling into my baking as well. Have a wonderful weekend Karen
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow! That's about all I want of it...on Christmas day! LOL! I "plan" to start making Christmas gifts after the first of the year. When our remodel is complete and my sewing area is put together. I am not ready for this Christmas AT. ALL...
ReplyDeleteHappy Surprise Snow Day! I do admire your preparedness and pacing. I'm nowhere near ready, but Christmas will come whether I'm ready or not. Enjoy your snowy and peaceful December!
ReplyDeleteMe too. It's going to be minus 10 so I hope that means snow too. I still have quite a bit to get but like you started early, I hate rushing too. I haven't made the cake yet but it's quick recipe. I hope that you find something nice for Frodo and husband.
ReplyDeleteHappy snowy knitting days.
debx
I do lots of my shopping early too! better that way! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty snow! Not even close to ready for the holiday yet. It's just the way this season is going. But I'm not stressing about it. What gets done is OK and what doesn't - we can live without.
ReplyDeleteI'm more than a little bit jealous of your snow! Although I don't want to see it when my kids will be on the road, headed here for Christmas. I used to pace myself buying gifts when the kids were young. It sure makes things more relaxed in December. Now we draw names, so only have a few presents to buy. There are too many of us to exchange with everyone!
ReplyDeleteYay for snow!!! We got some too, and it is so beautiful. I am with you, and sinking into December leaving the hustle and bustle behind, it feels so good. Enjoy your weekend, hope there is a little magic in it :)
ReplyDeleteYour snowy pictures are beautiful! I hope that you can get all the rest of your shopping done easily and enjoy your slow time! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful snow you have. I'd love some. We have gray skies, and grey everything.
ReplyDeleteI m ahead this year: no doubt due to retiring!! I feel relaxed and very much in the holiday spirit.
That's a great idea to start in October Karen. We avoided the whole thing by giving them ski passes.
ReplyDeleteChristmas shopping done!
I am also with you. At Thanksgiving, I decided to have a kind and gentle holiday. That is, taking time to enjoy the quiet of advent and savoring those things that are important to me - baking, spending time with my family, and reading a little poetry with my cup of tea. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOooh so beautiful! I'm jealous :) I hope you are warm and enjoying the snow :)
ReplyDeletehugs!
Time for me to start slowing down. I'm feeling a bit frazzled. I think a nice walk on the beach is in order!
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to be having snow and here it's just grey, stormy and windy. Good luck with finishing the gift shopping!
ReplyDeleteI love your snow! It's unseasonably warm here in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteYAY! You got the snow you've been waiting for and wanting! It is beautiful! We've had only flurries here and there...the ground has seldom been covered completely...and definitely not as deep as what you had.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you when it comes to starting shopping early...and staying out of the crowds!
I have to tell you I found my planner for 2015 while out yesterday...I am so excited! :) I know you will appreciate such news. :) xo
what a beautiful surprise!!!!! hoping we get another snowfall before christmas, too....although the temps really are going to have to get out of the 50s (!!!) for this to happen!
ReplyDeleteI'm down to Freddy for the gifting....he's a tad worried again this year; sniffing all the packages and not finding anything that smells remotely like beef or chicken or peanut butter. (He has reason to worry, of course. Sandy Claws has him squarely on the 'naughty' list.)
