Currently on the Needles
Something new is on the needles, happiness and joy! I started another Hitofude cardigan and this time around I'm making the sleeves long instead of 3/4 length. I'm guessing and fudging and hoping that the sleeves will look fantastic. Also, I've mastered the crochet provisional cast on. My first Hitofude I was too lazy to dig out a crochet hook and so I knit the beginning with a waste yarn. After the sleeves were knit up, I was sadden by an entire day of unknitting that lazy decision and have learned my lesson. Do a proper provisional cast on.
My reading is new as well. I started The Shipping News by E. Annie Proulx. Since I've just started the book, I have no opinions at all. Let's see how the book goes.
What are you knitting and reading this week?
Joining Ginny and Frontier Dreams
There is nothing like starting a new project . Enjoy the process :)
ReplyDeleteI love your new cardigan... i love the your choice to mix mint with wine!!! I read Proulx book a while ago and really enjoyed it...my son was almost named after the main character!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with adjusting the pattern to suit you. I love the colour of the yarn perfect Autumnal colour.
ReplyDeleteThat will look so pretty- love the color choice Karen
ReplyDeleteNew knit project and new book, you are having a fun week!
ReplyDeleteKnitting a mystery and reading the very same book. It's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThe Shipping News is great. Love your yarn colour - the cardigan will look great.
ReplyDeletei loved knitting that sweater....hope you have a happy knitting second time around, too!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother Hitofude, that's awesome! I do have the pattern, I just need to get the perfect yarn for it and then I'll be ready to go. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Hitofude has been on my wishlist for such a long time. This was just the post I needed, now I'll order the needed yarn right away. I already have one skein that I want to use, but I'll order the rest now. I remember reading The Shipping News a while ago...
ReplyDeleteYou will probably finish your Hitofude before I finish mine! I am learning so much with this knit and the construction fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteI have that book in my queue. I should probably add a Hitofude to my queue as well :-).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pattern and lovely yarn will yield a beautiful sweater. The Shipping News is one of my favorite books; I just reread it and it seems to get better with each reading!
ReplyDeleteI think we've all succumbed to the lazy knitter syndrome once or twice. Or, in my case, a dozen times. :-)
ReplyDeleteHitofude Cardigan has been in my favorites list for a long time but I have yet to find the brain space to knit something with sooooooo much design intricacy!
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh with the provisional cast off because I just thought: Isn't it lovely to have learned the lesson though? I am continually thinking I can skip the gauge swatch and having to frog my work!
I've thought about another Hitofude... but with shorter sleeves. ;) This one will be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteblessings ~ tanna
ps I'm the same way about the coffee table... the bar in the kitchen... and leaving closet doors open (my hubby... every. single. time!) hehee
Oooh what a lovely colour. :) I'm anxious to see how that book is. I'm just working on a nice, hopefully not too difficult pair of first socks! A nice short project after the Sweater Marathon.
ReplyDeleteoh I really want to knit a hitofude. I have an old sweater I've been intending to repurpose yarn from and I should look at the pattern specs and see if there is any chance it would work... I drool over every hitofude I see- including yours!
ReplyDeleteYou've picked a gorgeous color for your Hitofude.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing your thoughts on the book! I've always been intimidated by the provisional cast on... I'll have to google the crochet way.
ReplyDeletebeautiful color! starting a new project is such a pleasure :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for that advice about provisional casting on. Loving the color!
ReplyDeletelovely colour for your new project!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to figure out the proper crochet provisional cast on. I still use the scrap yarn method and always regret it when it takes me an hour to undo a measly 50 stitches on a cowl...I can't even imagine a whole sweater. YouTube, here I come.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour yarn. New book, new knitting how exciting! Loved that book ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it, what a lovely colour!
ReplyDeleteDang you're on fire another Hitofude! Sheesh. Can't wait to see how you feel about the book.Happy reading and knitting!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting it must be to knit another sweater! It's going to look beautiful! :)
ReplyDeletevery fun! hope it goes very well! :) I've seen that book but not read it. God bless you! :)
ReplyDeleteNice color choice, Karen!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pattern and gorgeous colour combination.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the completed project. You will have it whipped up in no time!
ReplyDeleteMy HS English teacher gave me this book after I graduated, I enjoyed it! I still have it on my shelf actually, perhaps I will pick it up again.
ReplyDeleteGreat color for your next Hitofude, Karen. It's on my list, too, so I appreciate your comments. Haven't read Shipping News but it's on our bookshelf waiting. Right now I'm reading Boys in the Boat. It's very interesting.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your second hitofude. I've seen so many pretty executions of this beautiful design, I really want to make one too.
