Weekends
Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.
I had a wonderful Easter celebration, did you? Every day fiesta ware dishes were set aside for my green dishes (royal china- old curiosity shop) that my grandmother and mother collected from a grocery store while I was a little girl. I have many, many pieces and some of them are chipped or the glaze is ruined, but luckily I can cobble together a place setting for six, sometimes eight if people are not inspecting.
The coffee table doesn't look that messy but it still can disturb my inner peace. Each time I walk by I try to tidy. Then someone else comes around and undoes my tidy.
- we went to morning Mass and now we are in the Easter season!
-we walked and wished for slightly warmer weather
-there was: cake, laundry, talking, laughing, dirty dishes, sunshine, clouds, turkey, mashed potatoes, yawns, quiet, reading and overall being together.
how was your weekend?
I love my family dishes (Old Britain Castles) and am glad to see your Old Curiosity Shop pattern. It sounds like a lovely weekend, and just remember that a messy coffee table means that you are all together!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Easter weekend Karen and I adore your dishes, the look and the history behind them.
ReplyDeleteYour coffee table sounds like my kitchen, argh!
Have a great Monday.
I always enjoy reading about your weekends. They make me feel relaxed. My weekends are mad dashes. Trying to get everything done in two days that I can't get done through the week while I work. I know this is only a season. But like the long dreaded winter we had, I'll be glad when it's over. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you enjoyed your weekend Karen. What lovely dishes, and such a special bit of your past to carry forward with you.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely start to your week.

Karen I love your dishes!!! They are beautiful. The chips in them just tell the stories of all the meals enjoyed on them :-) I am glad you had such a nice Easter weekend....I keep reminding myself that Easter is a season full of joy and beauty. I am planning on celebrating it to the fullest!
ReplyDeleteI put a post together with a little bit of our weekend too: http://ihappyree.blogspot.com/2015/04/weekending.html
Ours was quiet and just perfect :) after service, we came home and enjoyed each others company ... those dishes are just lovely Karen. mari
ReplyDeleteyes, your idea of messy must be different now that your kiddos are out of the house. ; )
ReplyDeleteNice to visit here again. Big Hugs.
Sending you good thoughts for warmer weather and spring blooms.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a nice Easter weekend, and that your coffee table didn't end up too big of a disaster. :-)
ReplyDeletei love that feeling when you know its going to be extra special when mom pulls out those treasured dishes!!!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds lovely...and I hear ya about inner peace and coffee tables !!!
Our weekend had unexpected warmer weather and that made Easter beautiful. I only had the cornflake hash brown casserole to make, so that made Easter easy. I got to knit. I got to see nieces and nephews....I did miss my girl though......
ReplyDeleteYour dishes sound lovely, so much history bound up with them, all the food they have shared. Your weekend sounds wonderful, mine was too in the end. The sun shone and we spent time outside.
ReplyDeleteI just read your comment on Monique's Mess and came to have a peek here.
ReplyDeleteYour china looks really nice and is totally Easter-ish.
The thing you mention about your coffee table also happens in our house all of the time. Especially when my son (aged 29) stays over for the weekend.
It drives me crazy, but I do love having them home :)
DeleteOh my goodness - those dishes!
ReplyDeleteMy great-grandmother had them - also collected years ago - and when I moved out on my own...gosh, 20 years ago now...my grandmother gave them to me so I would at least have a matching set of dishes. So they were our first dishes in our first (and second, and third) apartment, up until we finally saved up for the Fiestaware we have now.
Seeing the same dishes on your table made me smile this morning.
I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend with your family. xo
Ha! I just re-read your entry more carefully & see that you also have Fiestaware for everyday. Great minds... I can't think of anyone else but you that I'd rather be like when I grow up, in any event, so this also makes me smile. :) xo
DeleteWe have much in common :) Happy Easter to you and your family!
DeleteI adore your dishes!! I have two sets - one from my Mother-in-Law and one from my Mom. The ones from my Mom (Havilland) have leaves on them - one of my favorite things....

Beautiful dishes and sounds like a good family weekend.
ReplyDeleteI got out my mom's dishes for Easter, too!!! (Hers are something we've never been able to find....even from Replacements, Inc. Something from Japan. But we have a gazillion accessory pieces, so really not needing any. Just curious as to what they are.) Family friends and too much food. I'm still stuffed.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good Easter weekend! We were lucky enough to have had some sun (although it's gray today), it was perfect for all the egg hunts among friends. We also managed to get some familygardening in, my favorite. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteBonito blog!!te espero por el mio aver si te parece que nos sigamos por gfc??saludos!!

Your Easter sounds lovely! The china is so pretty and it's so cool that it your grandmother and mom collected them.
ReplyDeleteMy little guy received his first Easter Basket and participated in his first egg hunt this year. Surprising how quickly he caught on. Although, he kept wanting to know "Where did the Easter Bunny go?"... Happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you get to use the dishes your mom and grandmother collected. Sounds like you had a wonderful Easter with the family.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely! I love the dishes. I had a wonderful weekend visiting my sister :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty table you set- looks so cozy and pretty- Happy Late Easter Karen.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely weekend. I love your dishes.
ReplyDeleteSounds peaceful. Our weekend was a little rocky....asthma and allergy issues. I think it ended on a high note though. We were together as a family.
ReplyDeleteSounds as if you had a wonderful Easter, Karen. I'm so glad...and I love your green dishes. I know they are treasures to you because of them belonging to your grandmother and mom.
