A Study in Daisies
Good morning! A few days ago we were walking our walk, the one that is done daily when the weather is cooperating and I discovered the daisy blossoms. This flower, that is unassuming and simple, is one of my favorites. I love how daisies will bloom wherever there is sun, their petals facing the bright sky saying "hello" to the world. They don't care if they bloom on the roadside or in a garden.
I tackled the front room carpet and won the stain battle. I have crossed off another task on my list of things to do. The bonus from the work lead to a clean carpet and a fresh smelling house. Also, I can safely say the ceiling is finally finally finished. The mud and paint are permanently put away and my house is dust free from more than a day at a time. It's the simple pleasures.
Now if only our bushes that fed the deer through the winter would green up and look fresh! They still look brown from a distance but up close there is green....I'm hoping that the green takes over.
I am nearly recovered from the Boston weekend, the older I get the longer the recovery time. I'm embracing my slow mornings, a little more time for myself and the quiet that is present when he goes off to work. Cheerio breakfasts are tasty and I've been eating salads for lunch daily. My body is thanking me for that extra green! Today is a steamy humid day and we have dinner plans with friends.
Have a lovely weekend!!
Daisies are my favourite too...even if they smell funny?!? I've got my fingers crossed for the re-greening of your bushes for the wedding celebrations. Have a great weekend Karen
ReplyDeleteDaisys are my favorite flower too. So simple and clean looking. Since the kids are out of school my mornings are a lot less stressful. I can get ready for work in peace and leave the house without a bunch of stress and drama. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a couple more weekends of "getting stuff done" before I can relax and start enjoying my summer. :)
Hope you have a great weekend!
Hurrah for a finished paint and mudding job! I know I was super excited to be done with laying tile, painting, cleaning up after... It is worth it though, isn't it? Feels like a fresh start in a way. Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteDaisies are such cheerful flowers :) Glad to hear your ceiling is finally finished!
ReplyDeleteI love daisies too. Our fields are filled with them in the summer. Your bushes should recover. The deer destroyed ours a few years ago, but they all came back. We learned our lesson that year and now we put netting around our landscaping in the winter. It doesn't look the prettiest, but it protects our shrubs and trees!
ReplyDeleteYou know, they look a little greener...so maybe with the rain they will take off. The deer usually eat the one bush that I consider a decoy. But this year the winter was harsh and they came right up to the house and mowed them all down!!
DeleteHow pretty your flowers are Karen. We don't have daisies here, but we do have Brown eyed Susie's that grow along the sides of the roads.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be hot here this weekend, as in I heard 100 mentioned, blah! I am ready for winter ;)
Have a great time tonight with your friends and a great weekend.
Have a lovely evening with your friends. So glad all the renovations and cleaning are going as planned.
ReplyDeleteI love daisies too Karen, and there is a vase of them in my kitchen, with some buttercups :) Enjoy your dinner with friends this evening, and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'll give you a daisy a day!
ReplyDeleteWe have cool, winds off lake michigan again...I do not like this cold weather in JUNE! I would drove humid hot weather. We wait for this and it feels like March again. Please send us the heat!
Daisies are such happy flowers. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe daisies are beautiful!!! I hope that you have some time to stop and smell the daisies this weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous daisies! They're so bright and cheerful! Please share your carpet stain removal tricks. There's a stain on the upstairs bedroom carpet that's been here since we bought our cottage and I haven't been able to get rid of it.
ReplyDeleteYou are getting so much done around the task. Good for you! That makes everything feel better.
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed that recovery takes longer as I get older.
Simple beauty. Burns wrote a lovely poem - To a Mountain daisy - his meditaion on turning a daisy over with his plough. its a lovely one. Take care of yourself and have a lovely weekend xx
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty daisies! They are such an unassuming plant; I love the way they almost grow themselves.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
My daisies are blooming too! Happy!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you won the stain battle and hurray for crossing off jobs from lists : ) Daisies are such sweet little things...I remember making chains with them as a kid, we'd all have bracelets and necklaces...great memories. Happy Sunday xx
