My knitting has been super simple and easy. Since the wedding is less than two weeks away, I'm having trouble thinking straight. I was going to cast on a feather weight cardigan but for some reason I am waiting. So instead I cast on this striped cowl. Of course, I am wishing I had some gray wool to go with my gradient yarn. However the gold yarn is winning me over (I think....). That pink yarn is NOT part of the cowl, it is waste yarn for a provisional cast on.
Guess what? I finished the second Hitofude cardigan and posted here!
My reading is the same as last week and I must say this book is fabulous. I love when a book exceeds my expectations :)
What are you knitting and reading this week?
Joining Ginny and Frontier Dreams
I really like the gold Karen and with the green it's quite pretty. Easy knitting right before the wedding sounds like a good thing to me. On the day of the wedding my Alex, my baby, turns 18! How did our babies grow up so fast?
ReplyDeletewhen your mind is going in a million different direction...simple knitting is best. Now, I KNOW if you really really wanted grey in the mix, you would have known who to call!!! I think the gold is working beautifully!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love the gold! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the gold with that gradient, and I'm always glad to hear about a book that exceeds expectations!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking cowl. That book has been on my "to read' list for a while, so I need to get a copy from the library and actually read it!
ReplyDeleteI love the gold too it really is working well.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting so excited for you with the wedding festivities that will soon be upon you! I don't even know if I could knit with all that going on. I'm glad you are finding some time for yourself. Enjoy it all Karen!
ReplyDeleteOh! I am wanting to knit the featherweight too. Just trying to get up the courage to attempt another sweater - I have not had good success.
ReplyDeleteThose colors look very nice together. I love greens and browns. Earthy colors.
ReplyDeleteYour cowl colors are very rich and Autumnal. I don't think the pink looks so bad either:)
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you, Karen! Love the new knit and the Hitofude even more! :)
ReplyDeleteYour cowl reminds me of a Trap scarf. LOVE It.
ReplyDeleteGlad you chose a simple knit pre wedding!
I am reading Stepahnie Purl McGee's book, All WOUND up. I read her first book and this one is delightful too
Finishing my shrug today I hope
I like the stripes! The colours look good together.
ReplyDeleteStripes are always great! I'm really liking the gold with that colorway-the finished cowl is going to be delightful!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I'm sure it,s fun even for an advanced knitter to just do something simple. I do AL simple so I can't really say, but I imagine one day, when I can knit something with an actual pattern, it'll feel good to just knit for knitting.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely day! xo
lovely! oh! God bless you as this wedding draws near! Peace, strength and clarity do I pray for you! Some simple knitting is great!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in that cowl! And I understand how you can want some simple, straightforward knitting right now—I hope it is keeping you relaxed :)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I love your hitofude! The color is one of my favorites. The gold in your cowl won me over too--I love stripes but never seem to knit them. I am a little behind you on the wedding path--my son's wedding is the end of August and things are ramping up over here a bit!
ReplyDeleteHappy easy knitting!
xoxox
Love the gradient yarn - it's beautiful and I really like the gold inbetween. Following along with Ginny too - it keeps me knitting! :)
ReplyDeleteCountdown knitting... I bet you are the type that knits faster as the excitement escalates!!!
ReplyDeleteI still love your hitofude, I think I commented on Instagram when you posted that picture. It is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think the pink provides a really nice touch to your cowl ;) Simple knitting will help clear your mind, stick with that until things quiet! In chaos the simple motion of muscle memory taking over calms my heart. Wedding season is fast upon us!
Both are your project ideas are some of my favorites. I put your book in my queue. Weddings are whirlwinds but great. Best wishes!!!
ReplyDeleteAh still not reading. Just knitting a sock and a shawl, fussing together more cast-ons. I like the color scheme in your cowl. I think it's going very well!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the wedding festivities. I did cast on the feather weight cardi, but for some reason set it aside. I will get beck to it soon I hope.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours Karen. Simple knitting gives your hands something to do and keeps your mind free and clear :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing cardigan. I am so impressed that you've knit two! Maybe I should try that pattern -- although I think I'll be labeled insane if I cast on one more item!
ReplyDeleteI think the gold works perfectly in that cowl. I can't believe you can think straight enough to knit even that with the wedding so close.
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty cowl-in-the-making! Gosh, the days till the BIG ONE are slipping quickly by. Such an exciting time! I am reading The Aviator's Wife (for bookclub) and really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI think the gold is winning me over as well. It is beautiful.
