Currently on the Needles


Call me crazy, but I cast on another Featherweight Cardigan.  I thought about this project for more than two weeks and I know that when I get to the arm holes and am left with knitting miles of stockinette for the body to knit,  I'll wish that I had never ever cast on.  But right here, right now, stockinette is my balm.  Featherweight is a sweater that is versatile and wearable.  So during these summer days of heat and humidity I have a lightweight project in my lap buying my time for when fall appears.

This week I'm reading some short stories of Flannery O'Connor.  I haven't had time to start a novel and once this weekend is finished (the wedding!!!) I'll be able to sink into a good story or two.  My son arrived on Monday and brought with him a "must read" book.  Gotta love those kinds of books.

    This is beautiful yarn! A featherweight cardigan sounds lovely. I like having lightweight sweaters for summer, but my knitting skills are not advanced. I knit dishcloths and love making them and having them. I love seeing other people's projects, though!

    Now that color cardigan is going to look fabulous on you with your coloring. I keep saying I'm going to knit that pattern and even have it printed off, I just haven't cast on yet.

    Sometimes miles and miles of stockinette stitch is exactly what I need. I need something easy and mindless so that I feel like I'm accomplishing something.

    That's such a great color for a featherweight-it's going to be beautiful! I think it's nice to always have something mindless on the needles-some days you just need miles of stockinette, right? :)

    Sometimes stockinette is the perfect thing to have on the needles. :-) I am going to finally buy the correct needles today and get started on my hitofude! So excited about this one! I was reading "Vinegar Hill" but couldn't take it anymore, too depressing for me. On to something different...

    I think the cardigan will be lovely, the yarn looks so soft.
    I'm not knitting much of anything this week, but I did get a few medicinal herbs field guides and a new English Paper Piecing quilting book so looking forward to diving into those. Waht is the "must-read", can we know?

    Love the kids and their books too! I m in to stockinette today ...and will be for a bit . Having just knit the garter purse, Im done with garter for a good while.

    I haven't done a Featherweight, but I do the yard to do so. Everyone who has made one says the long process is worth it.
    "A Good Man is Hard To Find," continues to be one of my favorite short stories.

    I love seeing your Featherweights! I would love to knit one for myself but the thought of making a sweater in such a light weight for MY size is overwhelming. I think I may try Hitofude over the winter. With any luck I'll be a little smaller.

    I'm definitely calling you crazy ... but the good kind, the knitting crazy kind! It's a lovely color and will make an excellent functional edition to your wardrobe. It's a lot of stockinette, but yeah, it'll be worth it!

    I will not call you crazy. :) Featherweight it just one of those projects that you need to make many of. Immediately after finishing mine, I wanted to make another. I didn't but now that I have seen your beautiful progress, I just may.

Knitting News

  Good morning to you! How are you? I'm excited about my hat that I've been knitting enjoying the sea of stockinette stitches. When I first started the hat I thought it would be too small, now I wonder if it will be too big. Gah. I will find out soon I guess. I wish the photo about showed how beautiful the colors are in real life, you'll have to trust me on this! Below is my next knitting project, the habitation throw . I will definitely use the pink and gray, I'm still not sure about that purple, I might have a look-see in my stash and do another ponder about that color. I chose this pattern because I can use up some of my stash and I adore Helen Stewart's patterns. What are you working on this week? Also: I will probably not be posting this Friday and the following Monday because of my family visiting. I hope to be back next Wednesday (unless I change my mind).
