Phlox Madness

Another week and I'm feeling fine.  Seriously, I've discovered a love for summer because the humidity has been low and the temperatures pleasant.  We've resumed our daily or twice daily walks with Frodo.  In the late afternoon, I sit outside with a book for an hour immersing myself in a short story plot while listening to nature.

Our phlox has gone wild!  Purple flowers are everywhere I turn and with them arrive butterflies and bumblebees.  Sometimes I see a stray honeybee which is rare these days.  Yesterday, I noticed a red leaf and a yellow leaf laying on the ground, signs of fall.  I get a little giddy about that.

My oak tree is getting closer to dropping its acorns.  I walk to get the newspaper looking for signs and hoping each day is THE day.  We've had a week of returning to a schedule and sinking into a rhythm of togetherness.  There have been times I've quickly research a quick getaway vacation only to close the window delaying such crazy thoughts.  Sometimes the daydreaming is the most fun when thinking about traveling.  Giving into relaxation at home is the best vacation for us for now.

How was your week ?

  1. Your phlox is gorgeous! I think the squirrels are throwing acorns at me as I seem to get hit with many of them whenever I pass under our oaks. That's okay, it just means fall is coming!

  4. Your phlox looks so pretty! I really need to add more flowers or flowering plants to our garden! The girls have gone back to school, I've worked three days and tried to get some last minute things done before heading back to work next week. Today I'm spending the day with a friend though and I look forward to a fun day!

  5. The phlox are lovely! One of the things I enjoy most about flowers is watching the bees and hummingbirds that come to them. Often times home is the best vacation spot ever, especially after an intense time of busyness.

  7. Busy with visitors which I enjoy immensely but glad to sit down and take a moment for myself now that they have all gone. Love the flowers such a pretty colour, we haven't had much of a summer here the weather has not been kind so I am hoping for a prolonged summer and ignoring any sign of Autumn, I am not ready.

  11. I am so glad humidity levels have dropped for you and that you are enjoying summer. It was always my least favourite season as a child but I have learned to love its light and warmth and its been a pretty wonderful summer here in central France weatherwise!

    Happy phlox-filled weekend to you.

  12. I have ONE little phlox flower in pink that blooms every year. I wish it did better....it doesnt get enough sun, I fear. YOUR S are glorious.
My week got busier and busier. All of it fun, however.

  13. I love phlox, too. We have a lot of the wild variety. They are considered invasive by the experts, but I consider them beautiful!

  14. Your garden is so pretty with the flox and the white fence 😍 I love american houses with white fences. Too bad it just doesn't really fit in the streets of Belgium. That would really be standing out. I had my last week of work at the hospital and now I'm two weeks off! 😁

  15. Love it when things get back to normal. Happy to hear that you are finding your rhythm and feeling at peace with Summer. I hear you as the last two days have been a bit more pleasurable and have given me a peek into why many others love Summer so much. Yet, despite it all I am craving Fall temps like us knitters crave yarn time.
    Your garden is so beautiful!!
