Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

My weekend was relaxing, calm and delightful, how was yours?  Did you take in the sights and sounds of summer that are full swing?  I sat outside yesterday in my backyard and listened to the cicadas go at it.  The swell that rose on one side and end on the other side of the woods.  Orchestras strive to create music that moves around and surrounds the listener.

Yesterday we fit in TWO walks, I revisited the dirt road that I haven't walked for about three - four weeks.  Partly from the busyness and partly from the heat.  I enjoyed seeing my trees and being in the silence of the woods.

Today after Mass we went to a work Luncheon for my husband's job and I had Black Forest Cake (my all time favorite cake ever!).  You might wonder, how could she eat more cake after being filled with wedding cake all week and still have wedding cake in the freezer.  I will tell you it was wonderful.

In the spirit of cleaning up our diets (after that cake..), I did do an inventory of all the foods in the cupboards.  I still have to dig deep into the freezers and see what's there.  Then the massive menu planning and finding recipes will entertain me.

How was your weekend?

  4. I love that you got in two walks, that is fantastic!
I had a huge piece of birthday cake this weekend and thought of you as I was eating. All this talk of cake has weakened my will power.
PS- Thank you for the cheering, I finished the pullover.

  8. It is nice to have a relaxing weekend. I am afraid we have not sat outside at all this Summer - the weather has been terrible in Cumbria (UK). My weekend is on the blog. Joan at www.aviewtothefells.com

  17. I'm glad that summer is in full swing for you Karen. We're not having the best summer so far but recently spring and summer seem to be nicer than summer. Having said that you may know that English weather is very changeable and we often feel the four seasons in one day.

We were busy decorating most of the weekend but when the sun came out and we felt summer for an hour or so we had a little walk to collect eggs from a neighbour.

Your black forest gateau sounds amazing. I haven't had any for years. It sounds like you are going to have fun planning next weeks menu.
