Purple Daelyn Pullover Complete
Hey, guess what? I finished that sweater - more than a week ago and my oh my was my blocking off and maybe still is with that pesky garter stitch slant... The first time I blocked it, I did a slap dash job and it showed. The sweater was too long. So the second time I blocked it wide and used a measuring tape. Much much much better.
I might be picky but do you see how the front bunches a tiny bit? Yup. I don't like that. So the question is: is it just me being very picky? is that the way pullovers are and I'm a die hard cardigan wearer? should I block the sweater again?
When faced with such dilemmas I tend to put the garment aside and wait it out. There have been countless sweaters that I finish and my expectations are not met exactly. Time away does do wonders. For instance, on Saturday when I took the photos I really was not happy. Now that I'm blogging about it and looking at it, I think I might be crazy and picky. I like the sweater!
The pattern was fantastic to follow and of course Ella Rae yarn is delightful to knit with. I prefer it over Cascade 220 because of how soft it is. Ravelry note here.
I love the pullover! The color is very nice too! You do wonderful work Karen!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a lovely sweater, both the pattern and heathered yarn, but I do understand how it is if clothing just doesn't feel right. I'm a cardigan lover also and think this pattern would be beautiful cardigan-ized!
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn you've chosen, goes nicely with the garter stitch. I see what you mean about the shoulders, maybe a smaller size would have worked better? I don't think it looks bad by any means but maybe when you block it again you can get it to lie a bit flatter? It looks lovely though, very cosy
ReplyDeleteIt looks comfy. I like a loose sweater so it looks great to me.
ReplyDeleteYou are being picky ;), The sweater looks amazing and it especially looks amazing on you. There is not one thing you need to fix! Wear it, often, and smile my friend.
ReplyDeleteI love the slate-grey colour and style. Lovely and cosy for the winter. I know nothing about blocking so cannot comment on that, but it looks fine in the picture, not noticeably bunched to me.
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! I think it'll be a favorite!
ReplyDeleteI'd say the sweater looks PERFECT!!! I love the comfortable look....it's the look I would have been striving for. And the color is magnificent.....a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteThe alleged front bunching is a non issue. Besides this way you can wear it on Thanksgiving and no wonder can tell if you eat too much pie. It looks great Karen. Knit more pullovers! You are onto something now!
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic! Honestly I did not notice any bunching. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fantastic! I'd be thrilled to make something like that. just wonderful and no bunching to be seen by my eyes
ReplyDeleteYou are totally being picky! The sweater looks great! And is a gorgeous color.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love this! This is such a great pattern, and the color you used is perfect! Looks amazing on you :)
ReplyDeleteI think you are just been picky. it really does look wonderful on you, the colour is perfect. A great knit and something to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! I love the color and the way the stitch change creates texture on the sides. It really looks wonderful on you! xx
ReplyDeleteI really cant compliment you enough with this one. I dont see any flaws. Just a great color and pattern and wonderful knitting!
ReplyDeleteKaren, it's beautiful! I'm more of a cardi girl, so I get what you're saying and think it looks great on you!

ReplyDeleteOh that looks great on you Karen!!! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic pullover....wonderful color!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally being picky Karen, it looks great!!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteOMG that sweater is beautiful! I need to get moving on mine! Seeing yours has inspired me.
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing knitter Karen. I’m going to have to try Ela Rae yarn, I’m using 220 Cascade and not super happy with the results.
What a beautiful sweater! You are so talented. I totally love it. It looks marvelous! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteLove it, and the color.
ReplyDeleteI think the sweater looks great on you. I bet it will be cozy and warm this winter. I have always wanted to knit something with that yarn.
ReplyDeleteWell, first: the color looks great on you, it would make my face dull and sick, but it looks warm on you! Second, the garter stitch edge looks fine too. The sweater might be a bit too big, but at first glance it doesn't even show, it's just because I read your blocking adventures that I started looking really carefully. So if I were you, I would totally wear it!
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to see this, it looks awesome. I love the garter stitch panels and the wide ribbed cuffs and bask. You are so lovely and tall and slim it looks perfect.

This sweater looks fantastic on you!! Wear and enjoy its warmth and knowing you made it!
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater! It is a perfect pairing of yarn to pattern. I think another blocking is called for. It is weird to block sweaters flat but we aren't flat people!
ReplyDeleteI think it turned out beautiful! I also am a cardi girl but always love the idea and look of a pullover and this one is super cute- I especially like the side panel- pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely beautiful Karen. It looks great on you. I love how you look in purple.
ReplyDeleteOh!!! Love it! Looks so cozy, you are definitely being way too picky :) It looks perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! But if you don't like it then you need decide what to do after all you are the one who is wearing it ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! You look amazing (as always!)
ReplyDeleteYou look so cozy! I think the sweater's fine. It looks it has some room for you to layer a tank top or even a chambray button up with a layered and sparkly necklace. Great job. I like this neutral blue that will go with anything.
ReplyDeleteI've just knitted this and I've noticed that bunching at the top and found it with several top down patterns, they are too wide at that point. I don't like the neckline on this sweater it comes up too wide on me rather like a boat neck but yours looks fine, more scooped.
ReplyDeleteI think it is more of a boat neck than scooped neck. I found the neck to be wide but I do like it that way :)
