Isn't he a beauty? He or she is a box turtle that I found at the wood's edge enjoying the sun. Too bad the turtle is an awfully shy one :) So now that I've finished with the nature part of the post, how was your weekend??
We were busy doing indoor chores and outdoor chores yesterday. The little upstairs bathroom is finished, done, complete. My overhaul of the two linen closets is also finished. I'm on a purging roll and am seriously contemplating my dresser clothes. I love to clean, organize and freshen up areas.
Yesterday the university had it's annual book sale, which tends to be my favorite, lots of novels and textbooks and how to books. Look at the stack I bought-- total of nine dollars, pretty sweet! I was excited about the artist's way, I've heard such good things about the book and was too cheap to buy from amazon. Glad I was waiting out for the deal. You never know what you will find.
We had such lovely weather today and yesterday. The windows are opened, I've changed comforter's on my bed so I can quit being so hot at night. We had an national honor award ceremony to attend, so I'm only now tackling the laundry.
How was your weekend?
What an excellent weekend! I love your turtle, the open windows, and especially that great stack of books!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, I have had The Artist's Way on my list for a while, please share what you think when you read it.
ReplyDeleteAlex will be gone for the last week of April and I am gutting my whole room and getting rid of most of my clothes, I'm kind of excited in a scared sort of way.

Wouldn't it be fun to be able to hide like that? It's nice here, too, but no turtles; however the birds and squirrels seem happy. The garden is screaming for attention....lots to do out there!
ReplyDeleteIt is so trippy how there are wild box turtles in your area. I do hope they survive well. And what a steal! $9 for that many books? How lovely. Been warm here in the Bay Area. Today is supposedly 94°. I can tell it's warmer than yesterday which was 85°.
ReplyDeleteLook at those books, great finds, and for $9...wow! We had a great weekend, sunny and hot, and most of our time spent out of doors.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely start to your week Karen.
Use book sales are such fun! You found some great stuff. Sounds like a pretty nice weekend. Enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI love a bargain, such a great haul for $9, as you say well worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here was lovely. Sunny but not too hot so I grabbed the opportunity and spent some time outside, getting the garden ready for planting vegetables.
ReplyDeleteWell it sounds like you had a lovely weekend. Mick's back to cricket again now, he had his first game on Saturday, so it was quiet around here but I'm not complaining. How lovely to see turtles, he certainly is a beauty. You picked up some bargains at the book sale. I have a Kindle but I rarely buy anything at full price, I look on the daily deals and get them for 99p, otherwise I buy books from the charity shop, I can always manage to find books I want.
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect cozy weekend! The turtle is just precious!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice weekend. We saw tons of turtles on our kayak trip. Unfortunately none of my pictures of them turned out. Joining you in your weekend post at http://hearts812.typepad.com/pick_up_sticks/2016/04/weekending.html
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great stack of books! There was little laundry done here (read absolutely none!) over the weekend so Mount Laundry awaits conquering! Oh Hi There Monday...
ReplyDeleteGreat price for all those books!! We had a work/fun weekend. :-) Saturday was spent doing chores around the house and garden and then Sunday we spent all day with friends riding the bike.
ReplyDeleteI love picking up books at our library's book sales-it looks like you have a nice stack! I also saw some turtles sunning themselves on a walk with my dog this weekend. My weekend ended with a concert; I sing with the local university choir and we performed the Faure Requiem and it was a wonderful experience.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was a lovely concert :)
DeleteOh good book scores!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have had amazing 78 degree Chicago weather and I've been enjoying it so much. Windows open near my greet desk at the animal shelter. On the porch right now. Windows open through the house.
Birds are singing.....daffodils blooming.
I knitted on a cowl and socks this weekend. It helped me feel better after leaving my daughter in Knoxville.
Spring has definitely arrived in South Carolina--supposed to go up in the 80s today! I kind of enjoyed last week's weather, very chilly mornings and then upper 60s - 70 all week long. I enjoyed a nice hike with my walking/hiking group in Landrum, S.C. on Saturday and finished with a wonderful lunch at a restaurant there called Stone Soup (they use local farmers and organic when possible yet reasonably priced). Sunday was a potluck dinner with my Paleo group in Greenville, so no knitting this past weekend! Good deal on your books and enjoyed your box turtle!
ReplyDeleteI like the sounds of that restaurant, stone soup, I also love their name!!
DeleteSounds like you had a great weekend! So glad to hear. Lots of sun and swimming hear. I truly can't complain.
ReplyDeleteI've read all the books in the series by Julia Keller. Really like it and am waiting eagerly for the next one to come out!
ReplyDeleteLinda in VA
What a great pile of books! Hope you enjoyed your ceremony :)
ReplyDeleteThe turtle looks happy to be out in the sun and the books! What a great find. Book sales are my favorite.
