Currently on the Needles
Well well well, I am on to another book! I saw this novel displayed at the library and checked it out without knowing what the story is all about. Goodreads gives an array of opinions from people either loving or hating it. So I will let you know what I think. Just started reading two days ago, so I'm opinion-less.
I am casting off on my test knit. I will be blocking this cowl sometime over the busy weekend, so I can achieve a bit more drape. I think I knit on the snug side...
That skein of purple loveliness will be my next project but I'm not sure yet what pattern. I keep changing my mind. I'm leaning towards a shawl but yet I wonder if that is what I really really want, first world problems of a dedicated knitter. Stay tuned for the decision, if I make one today or tomorrow.
What are you knitting and reading this week?
Joining Ginny and Frontier dreams
I really like the stitch pattern of your test knit and will be looking forward to seeing it bound off and blocked. I'm also interested in your opinion of The Nest (when you are not opinion-less!) I've been drawn to the cover and considered it, but it hasn't yet made it to the top of my list.
ReplyDeleteHope your week is going well. I would really like to know what you think of that book. I have been wondering about it. Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing the finished cowl. The lavender yarn is very pretty. I wonder what it will become.
ReplyDeletewhatever you decide...it's going to be very pretty! love that colour!!! :) (I've picked that book up...and put it back down about a dozen times....I know it's gotten a ton of hype, but I'm just not sure it's for me. anxious to hear your take on it.)
ReplyDeleteThe lavender yarn really is pretty, looking forward to your decision on what it is to become.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'd totally be drawn in by that book cover! Looking forward to seeing what your yarn becomes! Those tiny green cables look fab. Glad to have found you through the yarn along :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cowl! Love that purple yarn...you will find the perfect pattern for it!
ReplyDeleteThe cowl is turning out so beautiful, you chose just the perfect shade for it!
ReplyDeleteI have that book on hold at the library - so true about the conflicting reviews but still want to see what all the fuss is about. Look forward to your review and what you decide to do with that purple yarn!
ReplyDeleteI am so curious to see how the block comes up! I hope it ends up working for you so the effort is well spent. I have The Nest in my library queue. Looking forward to reading it soon.
ReplyDeleteI like the shade of green in the cowl. I'm anxious to see it blocked. Thanks for the book suggestion. It sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI will be very interested to see what you think of The Nest - it has been on my list but other things have moved ahead of it. I am reading Big Magic - it is too early to form an opinion yet, but I like it enough to keep reading! And, alas - I have hit the week when I am officially behind on the Shawl MKAL - so I have a good bit of catch up to do!
ReplyDeleteLove the purple yarn. And I find the book cover very pretty. I seem to gravitate towards books with pretty covers. lol
ReplyDeleteI love that green - beautiful. I know what you mean about changing back and forth about what to do with a yarn. I do that so often!
ReplyDeleteThe Nest is one of those books I keep considering. I look forward to your opinion once you've read a ways.
ReplyDeleteOh that is adelicious purple, like the very best sort of thunderclouds, I'm looking forward to seeing what it wants to become!
ReplyDeleteOh that purple is just lovely. Can't wait to see what you decide to knit with it :)
ReplyDeleteI really liked this book! More than I thought I would.

I love the stitch pattern on the cowl AND you have me curious about what will become of the purple yarn. I'm sure you'll find JUST the right pattern.
ReplyDeleteHope the book turns out to be a good one.
Can you believe it .......I've cast on for five, yes 5, pairs of socks and I'm still reading the same old book --- My Southern Journey by Rick Bragg. The knitting is going well and the book is good.
Happy knitting and reading!
how fun! that green cowl is such a lovely colour! all the best with pattern choosing for the purple!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you are making with that purple yumminess!
ReplyDeleteOoh that purple is lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou always have such fun looking projects, Karen, and you're SO productive. It's been kind of crazy here with an extended b'day celebration, but I did finish reading Short Nights of the Shadowcatcher which was very interesting. Lots of info about Seattle history as well as the life of Edward Curtis, the photographer.
ReplyDeleteThe purple is nice, but the green is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI do love that green yarn, looking forward to seeing your finished cowl and what you are going to cast on with the lavender yarn. Decisions, decisions.......
ReplyDeleteStill liking that moss green. I finished Magnus Chase, Rick Riordan's book that starts a Norse mythology series. It was okay; I gave it two stars which I feel bad about but I wasn't falling in love with it like the Percy Jackson series. I am in the beginnings of a Charles Todd mystery. They're a new duo/author I've wanted to try for some time now.
