Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

I'm still in boycotting summer mode these days...I have such a LONG way until Autumn.  One day I wore jeans just to make a statement.  Thankfully I have air conditioning.

How are you?  How was your weekend?

My weekend was pretty good.  I knit quite a lot and finished a book (yay!).  I also made one s'more over the stove for my dessert.  S'mores are the perfect dessert - crunchy, gooey, and full of chocolate. Who needs a campfire?! And who needs outside?

I didn't walk much because the hot weather bothers my arthritis.  I did quick little mini walks around the yard and pretended it was a power walk.  Frodo likes the little walks and if he could talk he would say "mom, I don't like summer much either".

Oh and I made some serious progress on my socks, while watching Merlin on Netflix.

How was your weekend?

  1. I am pooped out girl. I'd like to crawl into bed right now and just read; may do that. Catching up on blogs first as I dislike it when my feed is over 15 posts. Almost done.

  3. I am joining you in protest against summer sweltering. Down with heat and sticky humidity! But I do like that it's given you reason to watch Merlin and make great progress on those great socks. Have you watched any of those Norwegian Slow TV episodes on Netflix? I've watched about an hour of the knitting one and so far it's quite compelling!

  4. We took a fabulous hike yesterday and were rewarded with stellar weather and view of Mount Rainier. Lots of folks had the same idea but it was fun anyhow. Today we are taking it easy but did make it to church and heard a terrific sermon.

we were invaded by the monkey - and the blighters made a right ol mess of our one veggie garden. *sigh*... and all this noticed after a wonderful browse through my favourite nursery. I had such high hopes for new plantings but now Im rather nervous.

  6. I wear jeans down to work because it is so much cooler on the coast. Sadly they are too tight. Too much knitting and not enough walking. Plus it is hard to walk in the heat on my days off. Sigh. Never easy,

  9. The longer summer lasts, and the hotter and more humid it gets, the more depressed I get, so I hear you. Ugh.

But those are some lovely pictures, and I really like the start of your sock. The colors in the yarn are so nice together.

I got sucked into the Olympics. Sucked in, I tell ya!

  10. Lots of reading here and a good dose of knitting too! The weather broke a bit yesterday - at least the humidity has departed for the time being!

  11. We had some really nice porch evening weather. Windows open at night. Relief!
Worked on dishcloths and On a sock which I ditched. I also organized a dishcloth swap. Garage sale s on Saturday yielded a framed art photo and a stool for my new kitchen. All good

  12. Sounds wonderful, Karen. :) I would send you some of my cool, overcast August in trade for a bit of your warm summer weather if I could. We're either cool (high in the upper 60s yesterday -- crazy) or in the high 80s - low 90s. The older I get, the more I appreciate the shade and would be entirely happy with partly cloudy skies and temps in the mid to upper 70s all summer long.

  13. Mostly we spent it getting our house ready for a showing AND going to see two houses we thought we might like. Our showing was a no-show and we didn't like either house.

We are back at square one! LOL

  14. Oh, I am right there with you, Karen! Although I have to admit today was beautiful outside. I have had a dear friend visiting since last Thursday, it has been a lot of fun. The only downside is that the main reason for her visit was so we could go see Paul McCartney in concert last night and yesterday morning I woke up with a severe neck spasm and had to stay home. : ( I was so disappointed but there was no way I could have gone with the pain I was in. Luckily her son was available and he accompanied my friend so the ticket didn't go to waste and Leslie still got to see Paul! : ) Feeling much better today, still a little stiff but I can tell it is healing. Have a lovely week! : )

  17. I have never had a s'more, they are one of those things I've heard about for years but I don't think we have them in England. I might have to look into that.

I'm waiting for the summer to be over, too. Too much hot, yuck. Looking forward to being back in jeans and jumpers.

    1. oh I think you should have one one day. two graham crackers half a bar of hershey's chocolate and a roasted marshmallow in the middle making a sandwich :)

    2. We don't have Graham crackers, as far as I know. I do know a shop that sells American food bits and pieces, might have to have a look. If I get to have a s'more sometime, I'll let you know what I think :)

  18. Pleased to hear that you had a good weekend, Karen. Mine was good too. We didn't do anything particularly exciting and I worked on Saturday, but Sunday was slow and easy, which is always good in my book! I hate to wish time away, but I am looking forward to Autumn, too xx

  19. Autumn is on it's way. Hang in there! My weekend? Played music at a fun new-to-us spot on to kick off the weekend, then a slow, leisurely breakfast and a long hike. Didn't let the heat or rain stop me!
