Happy New Year! The beginning days of January feel fresh and new. I love how I have a whole entire year to set goals and maybe achieve a few of them. How was your weekend?
My sister arrived on Friday and left on Sunday. The weekend was a whirlwind of activity. We shopped a tiny bit (I bought nothing, I'm tired of buying!). We had a lunch out and then we started with dinner preparations. Overall, I had a fun weekend.
I forget the work involved with house guests. The making beds, washing laundry and dishwasher duty. My daughter and son in law leave on Tuesday and my son leaves sometime at the end of the week. What a wonderful long visit with everyone.
My goals for 2017 are themed around health. (I probably set this goal every year....) I received some new cookbooks which I'll share at the end of the week. The goals:
: new recipe once a week
: start resistance training of some sort (super easy and gentle)
: more salads!! (I have a cookbook especially for this goal)
: document my goals and write what works and what doesn't.
My last goal is the best goal. I seem to have a goldfish memory during the day and slip into easy eating and sitting around not exercising.
Of course my year will include lots of reading, knitting, writing and learning new things. Over all my theme seems to center around "nourish". Let's see how it goes!
How was your weekend?
I think my 2017 goals will be very similar to my 2016 ones. My top goal is to finish a quilt that has been in progress way too long. I love goals and lists. Here's to progress forward and achievements, Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on my goals... Still busy "making" my goals. Some are no brainers... but, I want a few more along the lines of "intentional". blessings and hugs ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteGreat goals Karen and I am sure you will achieve them all. My goal this year is to find balance, last year felt a little off kilter, so 2017 is going to be different. Happy New Year to you and yours! xx
ReplyDelete"Nourish" seems like a VERY good goal!
ReplyDeleteYour theme of "nourishing" is a beautiful way to care for yourself and for others in your life. Happy New Year, Karen!
ReplyDeleteThose are all great goals. I should just adopt them on my own. I have started a bullet journal. Do you know about this idea? If not, just google it. It's a great way of staying organized and tracking goals.
ReplyDeleteGreat weekend here Karen, filled with lots of time with friends, but I also managed to squeeze in some quiet time...it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!! I hope 2017 is an amazing and magical year for you. xo

ReplyDeleteSounds like you have had a happy busy time filled with family. Now after everyone heads home put up your feet for a bit. Nourish is a great theme for the new year. The photos are gorgeous. Such talent.
ReplyDeleteI am planning to try a new recipe very week too! We had a lovely week me with plenty of time with our tiny new person - my heart is full as this new year begins.
ReplyDeleteI love your theme of nourishing that would work so well for Gerard and I as we try a more holistic view on health this year. We finally decided on the word adventure as we start another chapter in our lives. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Karen!! I love your resolutions - especially the best and last one! That is what I did last year and it had such a dramatic impact on my success! It was so powerful, I am doing the same this year! Here is to wild success with our resolutions in 2017! XO
ReplyDeleteNourish! I love it! I have a feeling you will be incredibly successful at reaching your goals this year and beyond!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sunrise or sunset photo starting off your post. We had a good weekend as you've read already. Been quiet here w/out the dames about. They're coming home today. Gonna take my mum to the used bookstore today and off to make her belated birthday cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a salad cookbook! I can't wait to see your list of cookbooks. I've been wanting a vegetable cookbook that isn't vegetarian specific nor all casseroles involving some kind of Campbell's soup. I really want to eat more healthy veggies but I'm sick of steamed & roasted. I may have to resort to eating chocolate. :)
