Weekends
Today my husband and I attended a work luncheon at one o'clock, which is a weird for me time to eat so right now I'm eating some cheesy toast as a 'dinner' while typing this post and trying my best not to get crumbs on the keyboard (I'm unsuccessful).
At the luncheon there was a man who had quite the impressive camera. I went up to him to ask all about it. This camera was a professional Nikon and my oh my, I was pea green with envy! Lovely camera and just like knitters, the photographer loved to talk about his craft. He was friendly and gave me an idea of what to shop for next.
The world is filled with kind people, I like when I meet them.
How was your weekend? I was in yet another bike store - I'm getting good at maximizing my time there, I finished a book, read my prayer book and chatted with a friend. Phew. I'm starting to like being in bike stores!
This was the last weekend in a while where there is not much going on. So, we enjoyed the nothingness by eating lunch on the patio and taking walks with Frodo. I even shut down the internet for hours at a time and felt reenergized.
We had a few colleagues over for drinks this afternoon after the luncheon and Frodo was the entertainer. He is such a show off and when everyone leaves he goes under that ottoman and ignores us! He needs a nap to recover from all the socializing.
How was your weekend?
Karen, your photos wow me! The second to last photo--how did you achieve that spectacular effect? I'm glad you got to enjoy a relaxing weekend with your hubby. Your pool looks so sparkling blue and inviting!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I have to tell you something so funny! To my eyes, the picture of Frodo next to the fence, and the one above it of the phlox were ONE photo. : ) The flowers looked giant and Frodo looked miniature, and I thought, "How did she do that?" So I showed it to my son who gave me an odd look and said, "Mom, that's two different pictures." Hahaha. The white space between the pictures appeared like the top of the white fence to me, and I saw one big picture with really big flowers! ROFL!!!!!
DeleteSue you delight me :) I can see now how it looks like one gigantic photo!!
DeleteSaturday was kind of a bummer. We went to look at a house that had SUCH promise only to find out that Realtor pictures LIE. LOL The neighborhood was great. The house was awful. Then today the neighborhood was awful and the house was nice. The hunt continues.
ReplyDeleteOn the great side ..........I got to meet up with a blogging friend that is visiting from Canada. That was so much fun.
just so you know I am sending positive vibes and prayers you get THE house one day soon!
DeleteThese photos are wonderful (even without a professional Nikon)! As long as we have knitting or a book, we can be happy almost anywhere, including a bike store (or Cabela's while husbands and sons look at "man stuff"). Your pool looks so inviting and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCabelas!! I guess i could be sitting there, right ? Thanks for the photo love, I keep trying to learn new things and get better every day.
DeleteNice buzz, Frodo. Your skirt was lovely on IG. How nice of the photographer to chat with you about cameras and what to look for next. How productive you were at the bike store. Glad they had seats for you to kick it in. It was a pretty good weekend, some disappointments but oh well, that's how life is; can't have everything.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen ^__^. What's Frodo doing right now? Thank you about my 'do. Yes, bangs can be a pain to grow out. I originally cut them because I usually run around w/no make up and felt my forehead was nakedly glaring. I feel with these micro bangs I can show my rebellious punk side and separate myself from others. I feel also I need bolder eyeliner, LOL. Yay for finishing your book and multitasking. I don't read while I knit; I'm not that coordinated which is why I stick to audiobooks. Hugs.
DeleteHe was the sweetest man ever! I usually leave the bangs as is but I had a crazy idea to grow them out only to remember why I don't grow them out.
DeleteFrodo is adorable as always!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy!
DeleteI always enjoy your photos, and think you do an amazing job. Sounds like overall it was a lovely weeekend ... even for Frodo!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteShutting down the computer.....good thought. I read outside on the bedroom porch as the sun went down yesterday. Almost finished my book, A Year of Living Bibically. It was very peaceful not to be in front of the TV or computer. Until the mosquitoes came out. By then the sun was almost down. I plan to sit out there again tonight. It is so beautiful
ReplyDeleteIt's the simplest things that make life the sweetest!
DeleteMy weekend was full of recovering from travel and then having most all my fam in for dinner on Sunday night. And a bunch of sewing and knitting and hand quilting thrown in!
ReplyDeletesounds like a wonderful weekend to me!
DeleteYour photos are beautiful and I especially love the ones of Frodo. I take so many of my dog just to get one good one! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie, you can never ever have too many pet photos :)
DeleteWhat a lovely weekend! Frodo is such a charmer. 😀 We really enjoyed ourselves this weekend. We had a date night on Saturday, movies and dinner, and on Sunday we went kayaking. A perfect summer weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have never kayaked yet....guess I should put that on my bucket list.
DeleteI love hearing your bike store stories. They make me realize how much I need a wrist bag for knitting in Lowes. My husband likes to browse the lumber section like I browse in a yarn shop. I dread the trips to Lowes! With our without a fancy, professional camera, your photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI guess I like bike stores slightly more than lowes :) But if we were building something for me I'd flip the favorite.
DeleteIt's fun to see Frodo and hear about your nice weekend. We all need time to regroup after entertaining and being around people. I totally understand Frodo's urge to disappear!
ReplyDeletequickly regroup so you can adopt a puppy!
Deletesounds like a lovely way to spend the weekend
ReplyDeleteThank you Hena!
DeleteFrodo is always such a joy to look at :) I must admit my weekend was pretty much about eating, haha :) I met with dear friend who is the best cook I know and I didn't hold myself back with all this amazing food she made :)
ReplyDeletea weekend eating sounds delicious :) I like it when other people cook for me!
DeleteFrodo is such a dear and I love it that he needs a nap after socializing. It kind of reminds me of ...well, me. :) Your weekend sounds lovely, my friend. You do get a lot accomplished while you are in a bike store. ;) I accomplished a good deal of cleaning on Saturday and it was so nice to sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor...until walking through the lawn and twisting my knee. That gave me permission for total rest, using ice 20 minutes out of an hour and wearing a knee brace yesterday and today. I am amazed at how much of swelling has gone down at this point!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I hope you knee is all better - I tend to twist my right one over and over again. It happens when I'm moving too fast in this world.
DeleteWe spent the weekend in Boston with my son (his birthday was yesterday). It was a great weekend, including a trip to Plum Island (gorgeous). Only downside was way too much good food, and now my tummy needs to recover. So worth it though!!!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE Frodo!
Boston is the best place ever! Our son used to live there, and we explored so many places and ate at some fun restaurants.
DeleteYou take wonderful pictures Karen. So clear, bright and cheery. Your pool looks divine!!! Hope to have an in ground some day soon. :) Busy weekend around the house here. Lots of outside remodel work going on.
ReplyDeleteThank you Monica! Remodeling - what fun!
DeleteLove that blackeyed Susan photo! Last year some hungry bunny ate my started plant and this year it's in a cage but still not very big. Someday maybe it'll have flowers like yours!?
