Weekends

deer hoof print that looks like a valentine :)
Hello!  Another weekend come and gone, was yours good?  Ours was a busy Friday driving to Delaware to see our daughter and son in law for the day.  We were lucky to have good weather and smooth driving.  Although on the highway a rogue rock happened to ding my windshield. No worries though, the windshield ding will be repaired on Monday afternoon.

Did I take any photos on Friday while visiting?  Nope.  I was in the 'moment' - we had a good visit and soon we were driving back home to sleep in our own beds.  There was a bit of knitting in the car and while sitting and chatting with my daughter.

Yesterday was relaxing and calm.  I read and knit a bunch, this increased my happiness factor two-fold.  The weather was rainy and gloomy all day long.  After Saturday night Mass, we picked up a pizza and watched another episode of The Handmaid's Tale.  I read the book last year and felt I could handle the mature content.  The show is disturbing, but so was the book!

Today after cleaning the house and baking banana nut bread, I had my friends over for some knitting time.  I've been working on the cotton washcloths and believe it or not, they are nice to knit.  The casting on and off is the tricky part with those nubbies (is there a professional word for nubbies?).

I was rearranging all my to-be-read book pile and you know what?  I have a lot of books to read!  I have GOT to get more reading time squeezed into my days.  The older I get the more I realize that it's all about prioritizing my time.  So I need to make reading a priority.  I'll keep you posted on that personal goal

How was your weekend?

  4. We had a laid back weekend. Hubby was sick on Fiday so he was home and then Saturday we spent just hanging out here at home. Today we drove halfway between our home and our daughters and had a lovely lunch at a nice resturant and spent the time visiting with our daughter and son-in-law. It was fun to read here that you and your hubby went to Delaware on Friday to spend the day with your daughter and son-in-law because our daughter and son-in-law live in Delaware, too! :) Banana nut bread...now I will need to add one more thing to my to do list for tomorrow. ...make banana nut bread. :)

  5. Your weekend got off to a good start with that Friday visit. I miss the days of frequent spur of the moment visits with my daughter and family. Thank goodness for FaceTime. We had a pretty quiet weekend with chili in the crockpot and snow falling Friday and Saturday night, it was a good weekend to be at home.

  8. Sounds like you had a nice weekend! Ours was fairly quiet with lots of knitting and Olympic watching. We did, however, attend a celebration of life for a friend's husband yesterday and also sang with our choir in church this morning.

  10. I'm lovin' that heathered yarn in the last photo. :D We had a pretty quiet weekend, too. After three swatches, I finally called it close enough to cast on my Tegna. Still hoping it will fit. After going over the sizing, seems I may have needed a LARGE instead of a medium based on the sleeve circumference... which means I may not have enough yarn. Now, to figure out what to do about that. Ha! Once again, love the quotes on your tea bags! Have a wonderful week, Karen! blessings ~ tanna

  15. You had a little of everything in your weekend. Sounds lovely! You often show you're dress in blue jeans. Living in blue jeans is one of the biggest benefits of being retired!

  16. Your weekend sounds like it was wonderfully relaxing.
Mine was busy because my son is coming for a visit for a week beginning tomorrow, so it was definitely a very, very good busy.
I finished a Christmas stocking, I was crocheting for my daughter. Next one up is for my son. AND, I have begun knitting a simple sweater. We'll see how simple it really is!!! :-)
Have a great week ahead, Karen!

  18. It was a good weekend, except for the arguing with the Teen, but it's like that. Good weeks, bad/more difficult weeks. We are both doing what we can. I cooked, I baked, I tackled some laundry and got some exercise. I finished a pair of fingerless mitts. I hope to ride the good all the way through the week. :)
