Weekends
Isn't that sunrise beautiful? I captured that moment yesterday morning before the snow arrived. This weekend was another slow weekend with nothing going on. I'm getting good at that kind of weekend! Between babysitting, gym sessions and taking care of daily life chores during the weekdays, I'm thrilled to have a slow weekend doing nothing.
My news today is the daily walks have resumed! Yesterday and today, my husband, Frodo and I walked the neighborhood, saying 'hi' to neighbors (who were walking as well). Seems to be the time people crawl out of their hibernation, stretch their legs and see the world.
Both walks were messy and damp but even with a slightly wet miniature schnauzer, it was worth it. Also I'm hoping the walks will take some steam out of Frodo and make him 'mellow' around Holly (ha!).
this morning and it's all melted now |
The next knitting project is on my mind, I've decided I need some bright cheerful colors to reflect the approaching spring season. I'll be digging into my stash to see what I have sometime this week. I tend to not buy bright colors so my choices will be limited. However, not having bright skeins of wool will give me an excuse to go yarn shopping, right? Any excuse is a good one if you are a hard core knitter.
How was your weekend?
Coincidentally I just was thinking my next project should be knit from some spring like colors. I walked today in a gale of wind but gave up early and came home. This time of year our thoughts turn toward Spring.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice weekend. I like weekends too where it is mostly relaxing and lots of time for knitting and reflection. I think we will lose most of our snow this week too, it is supposed to be warm this Tuesday. I like the idea of a colorful knit for Spring, that sounds fun! I am feeling the pull to drive to Michael's soon and get some more yarn for a new project.
ReplyDeleteYou know how you wake up with something on your mind? Well this morning I woke up thinking about knitting, it's my craft club meeting tomorrow and I need some wool to knit a square to make a rabbit (I'm ok with the knitting bit, one of our ladies will show us how to do the rabbit). So even before breakfast I was looking through my very depleted stash of wool! My weekend was good, lovely walks in sunshine, my dogs run so fast over muddy fields I almost have to shower them! And lots of quilt sewing :-)
ReplyDeleteSomehow, we ended up with one of those "busy" weekends and I didn't get to knit a single stitch. I'm hopeful for some late afternoon knitting some days this week. :) I did manage to get my walks in early mornings this weekend! Hopefully, Frodo's excursions were as calming to him as mine were to me. LOL! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteYour sunrise is beautiful, Karen! We had the snow too. A lot of it melted yesterday and with the temps forecast to be in the 70's today I am certain it will all be gone by evening. :) Glad you had a relaxing weekend. Those are the best kind, in my book. :)
ReplyDeleteSlow weekends are the best! Ours was a mix of fun and work. I had a good time, that's what counts ;-)
ReplyDeleteTired dogs are good dogs... We had a nice weekend here. Some snow one day and warm the next. Have 80 in the forecast for the next couple of days. Not happy about that!
ReplyDeleteI think I"ll say I'm a hard core knitter! I think you are right on about Frodo getting out leading to Holly and Frodo's settling in. Knitting is getting me through the slog of our cold cold winter.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of knitting something more colorful too. We must be ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't especially warm here, but our snow made it beautiful to get out for a couple of walks this weekend. It may be rainy and wet, but we're supposed to have near 70 degrees tomorrow and Wednesday. Hooray for knitting spring colors!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, Sorry I've been away from here for so long. Hopefully this year I will remedy that. Yours sounds like a good one. Mine involved lots of knitting too and slowing down a bit.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of the week.

Some bright colors sound perfect to usher in Spring. Glad you got out for some walks...wishing I had. I do think if you tire poor Frodo out, he will be mellow with Holly. The problem is, of course, she may not be so mellow - lol. I bet they are really enjoying each other though.
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of snow! Glad you were able to get out & go for a walk. Hope Frodo enjoyed & wore himself out. Our dog, who used to drag me around for hours on end, now takes three or four steps past our mailbox and turns around to go back to the house for a nice nap. She's definitely showing her age these days.
ReplyDeleteI've been aching for some bright colors here, too. The next pair of socks I'll make is a pair of Happy Fox socks, with some bold and bright colors. And the sunset this time of year is breathtaking.. it checks off those color boxes for me first thing.
ReplyDeleteSpring! Can't wait to see what bright color you find. I've been dying lots of them. So fun and cheery. Can't help myself.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're walking again. I need a better routine there for sure.
Much love Karen!
Your photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI tend to only buy bright colors, so then I have to go out and get some more subdued colors so any colorwork isn't overwhelmingly bright.
What a great weekend! I love lazy weekends. Ours was busy because on Saturday we traveled to Brooklyn to meet our daughter's new boyfriend. : ) They've been dating for about a year and we have been looking forward to this for a while. He is a lovely person, they seem well suited for one another. Our fingers are crossed! xo
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was great! No crochet, knitting or photography. My son and his pup were here, so all attention was there. Unfortunately. the weather wasn't great (or even good), but it didn't matter, we had a great time!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are out for your walks again. I either run or walk every morning, and it always gets my day off to a wonderful start!
Have a great week!
