Sunny and Bright

Good morning!  Thank you all for the lovely compliments on my cowl on the last post.  How are you?  Around here the sun keeps trying to take a peek and then the clouds push back.  I'm thrilled the sun is peeking out, any kind of warmth is welcomed during the January days.  The temperatures have dropped and it's cold!

Frodo wanted to go outside and a blast of cold air had him change his mind and curl up on the couch for a nap instead.  Wise choice!

I've been knitting furiously on my fair isle sweater and finished the yoke portion.  I've picked up the live stitches from the provisional cast on and need to divide for sleeves and body and knit top down.  It's an interesting construction, I'm not sure how I feel about it yet - I have a feeling I will like the fit but I'll await until I'm finished knitting.

I've eased back into my regular (boring?) routine by going to the gym and babysitting.  I enjoyed the holiday break but it's good to be back into the swing of things.  I thrive on a schedule and so the more structure my day has the happier I am going through the motions.  I've become quite skilled at bundling errand running around the gym sessions so that once I am home, I am home for the day.

At babysitting one of the dogs had a puppy, one day old.  Isn't it the sweetest thing?  There is never a dull moment when I am at their house watching their 2 1/2 year old.  It's hard for me to be a chronic worrier while babysitting when there is so much going on.  I have limited brain space!

I am thankful for this babysitting opportunity.

I hope your day is sunny and bright, figuratively and literally!!

  1. Your sweater is coming along so nicely - hoping it fits!! I love grey and yellow together. How sweet - a day old puppy. The mug is cool - is it first lines from books? And that paper castle - wow! That's a lot of work. Very pretty.

The sun is out here but it is bitter cold...and I am not knitting fast enough - I'm still on the brim ribbing of my hat. Probably it will warm up by the time I get it finished. Oh well, I'm still enjoying it and that's what counts. Have a wonderful weekend Karen.

  5. Love your Fair Isle yoke. And that paper castle is stunning. I can not believe she only had 1 puppy. What a sweet photo of mom and baby. Routines are so nice to get back into. I miss mine too during holidays yet wouldn't trade the holidays for routines. Your 'Dickens' mug is great. Gives you something to read each day.

  11. We're enjoying a bright day indoors ... with knitting, hot tea and football. I am completely smitten with your colorwork pullover. I think the construction method is the best of bottom-up and top-down!

  14. A puppy and a toddler - now that should be a happy (most of the time) household. What fun. Your sweater is coming right along. There are so many pretty patterns for sweaters with colorwork yokes. Yours is going to be beautiful. Fingers crossed that you like the fit. I love the photos of your cozy knitting spot.

  15. You go on keeping up that gym workout. I'm surprised at how the mama doggie just had one puppy. Will they keep it? I hope so.
