Two Snow Days

find Holly
This week I had not one but two snow days where I didn't go to my babysitting job.  My joy was bubbling up just like I did as a kid when school was canceled.  I purposefully didn't do any work on either day - no tax prepping, no bill paying etc...  I didn't even cook!

Our snowfall was minimal but the mixed sleet and ice made for slippery roads.  I'm thankful that I was home safe during the two day storm.

Holly looking for Frodo

I finished my sweater!  It's drying upstairs on my bedroom floor as I type this.  I'm pleased to report that before soaking and blocking the sweater, the fit was perfect.  Maybe tomorrow I'll be burying the threads and doing a photo shoot.

My husband and I went out for dinner today.  Many couples were out on Valentine's Day sitting beside each other in a booth instead of across from each other.  Some moms had their sons out for a dinner which I thought was sweet.  We sat and chatted across from each other about a common worry that is perplexing us and then talked a lot of about nothing in general.  I'm lucky to be married to someone who is my friend.

My creativity attitude continues to evolve.  I'm showing up and doing the drawing and painting.  I do enjoy flipping through the sketchbook and seeing my work.

The other day I revisited my yarn stash that is hidden from that pesky cat.  I found yarns that I forgot I had and had all sorts of creative mental bursts of what I would like to knit.  Holly was watching me probably thinking what she would love to do with the yarn as well.

Having creative endeavors keeps me sane and happy.  I love how relaxed I feel when I knit and when I sketch, color, draw or watercolor.

Life is good.

  3. Snow days are special. Your sketching is inspiring me. I have long wanted to dabble a bit with drawing. That little Holly is quite the curious kitty. I love the basket in the top photo. The shape makes it look so unique.

  7. So, my Friend, you tell us that you "show up" to do your sketching or painting and make it sound as if you don't do very well. Now that I've seen that sketch of Frodo I have to say that I think you do more than just "show up". The sketch looks exactly like Frodo!

Glad your sweater is finished and am hoping that when you do your Weekends post that you will include some modeling pics. :)

Sorry that you are troubled over something but I'm glad that you are married to your best friend. I recently had something that was really troubling me and once I was able to talk with my hubby about it light started to filter through. We are blessed, Karen!

One more thing...I love the drawers in your kitchen! So nice and wide!

  9. Wow! That sketch of Frodo is fantastic! Glad you got to stay home and enjoy your snow and ice. As is typical here in Virginia, it's 60 degrees today but we are supposed to have 2+ inches of snow tomorrow. I plan to spend the day knitting.

  10. I love your sketch ! ~ I know how that is with the stash. I go through mine from time to time and it's like I'm at a yarn shop. "Look at this !", "I forgot all about that ! or "Who bought this?". Congrats again on the finished sweater and have a great weekend.

  13. Can't wait to see the sweater. There are days the knitting is relaxing, and there are days it is not. But I think it's more due to my arbitrary deadlines than anything else.

  15. It sounds like you had a wonderful two snow days. Your sketch of Frodo is awesome. The picture of Holly’s ear around the corner is too cute. My Binxy peeks around corners. I think she is trying to figure what Avi or Bru are doing.

  16. Your sketch of Frodo is really good. Animals are hard! And you really captured his position and texture.
Creative adventures are what keep me sane, too. I really depend on having a few creative moments with my coffee in the morning before work.
I'm looking forward to seeing the sweater. The last one I knit was too small!
