Weekends

Grab a beverage and sit back for the extended weekend recap.

On Thursday we drove up to London Ontario to visit family.  We stayed at my mother in law's house for three days and also visited with my brother in law and sister in law.  What a fun weekend and our son went with us!

Friday we went to a few shops then stopped at the cemetery to visit my father in law's gravesite.  The day was beautiful, sunny and the air was perfect.  In the afternoon, I painted a picture for my mother in law that she requested.  She paints as well!  We took her to an art store so she could get some paints and other supplies.

On Saturday we shopped at the attic book store and grooves record store.   I bought nothing but my husband found some treasures.

We ate at some great restaurants as well as at my sister and brother in law's house.  I enjoyed seeing everyone again.

Yesterday we came home (sweet wonderful home!).  I've been unpacking and catching up with all sorts of tasks.  Tomorrow I have to work so today is the day to get stuff done.  Oh I finished a shawl with all of the driving we did, I'll share with you on Wednesday.  It's currently blocking in my bedroom.

Holly missed us and so did Frodo!  I'm so glad to be home, I missed them as well.

My husband is opening up the pool today and was sad that there is much green.  A chemical detox will fix that.

Happy Memorial day!

  2. What lovely family pictures you've shared, and I'm glad you had a nice visit (with a real bookstore and art supply store and knitting)! I'm sorry the pool is green, but with some chlorine, it will soon be clear and ready to swim in. Enjoy being back home!

  5. Your drawings are becoming so good, so charming, I should practice while I spend the next few weeks sitting around. I tell myself I'm knitting bone. I also had a little family time which was so good for my sole.

  7. Sounds like a wonderful weekend Karen! Your dogwood painting is so pretty. Love the family pictures - they are great, and of course the shot of Holly coming through the blinds.

  8. You know it's been a long winter when your pool is greener than your grass. :) The green pool color would make a lovely yarn color though. Sounds like you had a great trip! I just love it when people 'drive to Ontario for the weekend.' It sounds so decadent! Half the time, we eat dry toast for dinner because driving to the grocery store just seems too far to go.

  9. What fun you had. I think it's so neat how you have family far enough that you have an excuse to go out of town.

  10. Wow such green water! I was telling a friend today that the local school keep their water (in their outdoor pool) over winter but dispose of it in the spring. It's green at that point. It's good to be home isn't it. We got back on Tuesday after being away for the weekend. So much to sort out - unpacking, washing, sort food shopping list & calendar, cat etc. Cathy x

  11. It is always good to visit and good to be home, safe and sound. What a lovely weekend. I bet your mother-in-law enjoyed your visit. I wish you sparkling clear water and warm enough temperatures to enjoy that pool.
