Hitchhiker Shawl


I finished the hitchhiker shawl!  I must say this was a delightful knit and I can see why everyone keeps knitting this pattern over and over again.  I enjoyed how quickly I memorized the pattern and of course how each section took a little bit longer than the last section.  My love of garter stitch grows a little bit more every time I have a project that showcases this simple stitch design.

I did have enough yarn for 41 teeth AND I had yarn left over.  Phew!  Most of you loyal readers have knit this shawl but if you are a lone reader who hasn't you might want to give it a try one day.

    Terrific finish, Karen. I like how the Hitchhiker pattern enables one to use variegated yarn and get wonderful results in the end.

    That color is just gorgeous and makes for a lovely Hitchhiker. I highly recommend the variation where on every row 6, you purl one and then (yo, K2tog) until you knit one or two at the end.

    Beautiful Karen, such a great pattern and lovely colour. Gerard is finally on the mend, he had a steroid injection which made him feel a little better. Sorry to read about your injury you are in our prayers. Take care.

Knitting News

  Good morning to you! How are you? I'm excited about my hat that I've been knitting enjoying the sea of stockinette stitches. When I first started the hat I thought it would be too small, now I wonder if it will be too big. Gah. I will find out soon I guess. I wish the photo about showed how beautiful the colors are in real life, you'll have to trust me on this! Below is my next knitting project, the habitation throw . I will definitely use the pink and gray, I'm still not sure about that purple, I might have a look-see in my stash and do another ponder about that color. I chose this pattern because I can use up some of my stash and I adore Helen Stewart's patterns. What are you working on this week? Also: I will probably not be posting this Friday and the following Monday because of my family visiting. I hope to be back next Wednesday (unless I change my mind).
