Weekends

Home again, home again, jiggedy jig.

Ah, can I tell you how much I love being home?  Most people go away on vacation to unwind and relax.  Vacations remind me how much I love being home.  I love my bed, my coffee maker and that beautiful perfect loveseat.  Such sweet bliss!

Holly was happy we came home.  Stephanie asked me how we take care of the pets while we are away.  Holly stays home by herself and I have a friend come to check the cat every other day (Holly hates people) and of course the house and the pool.

Frodo goes to the kennel where he gets lots of love from the humans.  When we come home, they are both needy in their own ways.  Then after 24 hours, you don't see either pet because they are sleeping to recover from their vacations.

I'm a new cat owner but I do make sure she cannot shut herself into a room by accident (towel between the door and the door jamb).  I heard a story of a cat being shut in a room for many days (and lived).  That terrified me!

Traffic coming home easy for a change.  You should have seen the line up of the people trying to go south in New Jersey.  The beach traffic was miles and miles long.  Unpacking is faster than packing.  I am done with laundry and unpacking.

When I finish writing this post, I'll be visiting all the blogs I've missed (I missed you all).  Then I'm going to knit and drink my daily cup of tea.

How was your weekend?

  1. Glad you got away, and glad you're back home (and done with laundry)! That salad looks delicious!

  2. I too love coming home from vacations. So glad your critters were well taken care of. Cats are much easier than dogs when leaving home. They do not seem to need the human contact as much. Welcome home.

  4. Glad you had a good vacation. Coming home is great too! Pets and vacation can be tricky. We're still working that one out here. We want to have a dog, but we need to be sure we can find a good solution for when we go away. I'm not sure if there are kennels on the island.

  7. This weekend was so much fun! I went to Brooklyn to visit my daughter and her fiancé. Mary and I went wedding gown shopping and she ended up buying the first dress she tried on. ☺️ Easy peasy!

  8. aw, I missed you, too! feels so good to be back! what a fabulous time at Cape May (a place I've never visited even though I lived in Cherry Hill, NJ for a few years) ... but yeah, coffee maker, pillow, study, comfortable seat at the kitchen counter. no vacation offers that!

  9. Thanks for answering my question. My husband checked out the pet hotel in town but for cats, it's not happy to the eyes since they're kept in cages and only get attention twice a day. For dogs it's different as they need to stretch their legs.

  10. Im on my porch with a fan blowing on me. The hummingbirds are frequently at the feeders. Miss Pie loves the heat and is out here with me. The sun is starting to set and Im about to start my knitting. This is MY summer place

  11. I really love being home, too. Our peace, though, is illusive because we have so many older people to take care of. We need to go on vacation just to have a break from care-taking!

  12. I enjoy a trip but love being home again. Routine and predictable surroundings - mostly are for me. Traffic can be crazy.

  13. While tidal water is always better than lake water, we live on a lake with a nice beach and packing, preparing and driving to the ocean's beach never seems like it's worth it. I'd much rather stay home. I have dug myself a lovely rut and I like to stay in it.
