Weekends
How was your weekend?
My weekend was fabulous, we went to see my dad and his wife and celebrated his birthday. I had some fantastic food while enjoying the visit. My sister and her husband were also there as well. Whenever I'm at my dad's place or my sister's place, I take the big camera for some photos.
After celebrating and eating too much lemon poppyseed cake and raspberry pie, I went with my sister to the bookstore and did some shopping. I took a chance on two books outside my usual reading genre. I was in the mood for something new and different. I need to finish my current reads before starting these books but I'm excited to begin reading them.
On Friday evening my aunt came over to my sister's house and we socialized some more.
Saturday morning I watercolored and chatted with my sister. We had a lazy morning creating and exploring some new techniques.
By the way, thank you all for the comments you shared with me (us) regarding creative challenges. I am glad I'm not the only one and guess what? I'm back to feeling pretty good about my createive journey. Knowing I'm in good company makes the sharing of my ups and downs easier. Everything in life can't be super easy, how would we appreciate it then?
Since returning home, I've been on a salad eating kick to counteract the sweets I indulged in over the weekend.
So tell me, how was your weekend?
Glad you had a good weekend! That second picture is lovely! Might be great to paint in watercolor too ;-) Those books look interesting. Looking forward to hear what you think of them.
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was pretty good too. We bought a stove and a kitchen cupboard and did some looking around for more stuff for the house. We also (finally) went for a little swim. And on Sunday we went to the beach bar to listen to some music and to watch the sun set. Just the normal shenanigans around here, but that was exactly what I needed.
That looks like a lovely weekend with so many good things and people you love! I haven't read The Library at Mount Char, but really enjoyed Midnight Riot. In case you love it, there's a whole series! My weekend was hot, but it's looking better today.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great weekend. I am still working on stuff for my daughter's bridal shower.
ReplyDeleteWe mostly stayed inside as it was brutally hot here, but we did take a few dips in the pool. I spent some time crafting and reading. Your books look interesting.
What a lovely weekend! It was warm here, but I am thankful for the rains this morning!
ReplyDeleteWow,the cake looks great!☺
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fabulous weekend - Family! Pie! Cake! New Books! What fun. It was awfully hot where I am, so I mostly stayed inside and didn't do much at all ( a little knitting, a little reading, not much cooking).
ReplyDeleteHot. Too...hot... :-o Looking forward to a bit of a cool down this week!
ReplyDeleteoh good! Glad you are back to creative comfort zone! Your cake looks so good! Weekend was: Super hot saturday as we moved zach from his chicago apartment ugh.......SUnday was gloriously warm and not humid. Perfect for sleeping. I got almost no knitting done yesterday and it made me mad. Poor time management on my part and it made me goofy. also I got to have a mcdonalds french fry and It was awesome. Yes just one!
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was very productive. We are ever sorting and getting rid of things we don’t need anymore. I know one day this will come to an end because we will have an empty house! It really does feel better to have less. Our starting point was we had entirely too much. The books look very interesting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had another lovely weekend..
ReplyDeleteI have both of those books on my TBR. The Ben Aaronovitch books are a series that I've been waiting to read.
Ha, I celebrated my birthday this weekend also! : ) Mary came home on Thursday night to celebrate with us. She and I went shopping for my mother-of-the-bride dress and I ended up buying the very first one I tried on. We also began making ornaments that will be given as wedding favors. On Saturday we barely beared the 98 degree temperatures and went to our favorite craft fair. I think I lost five pounds just by sweating! The heat wave is breaking tonight and I am so grateful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely weekend filled with family and good food. Shopping at a bookstore with your sis would be the icing on the cake. Quiet weekend for us - just the usual. Early early Sunday a front brought a good soaking rain and a break from the heat. Today was so refreshing as the humidity was down.
ReplyDeleteWe had a really busy weekend, daughter in law was due on Friday with our first grandson, moving my home office from one room to another (smaller) one so my oldest granddaughter can move home as she has now finished university (and got the news she is graduating with a First!), all the normal cleaning and laundry to take care of and an evening walk on Saturday when it was cooler so the dog could have a comfortable walk, and a visit to the country fair on Sunday afternoon then feeding half of the family to a home made lasagne, absolutely exhausted by Sunday night but so worth it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I loved the flower pot man in the first photo, it made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was on a salad eating kick! I'm currently living on theme park chicken tenders and gas station pizza. Ugh! Only 5 more weeks of this lifestyle to go and I'll be rejoining the land of the living. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Hope you were able to fit in a little knitting time too.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds lovely to spend time with your family and celebrate your Dad's birthday. So glad you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to celebrate your dad's birthday ... with family! especially your sister. I'm so fortunate that I see mine most weeks and I try not to take our closeness for granted.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that pot figure was fun to see. Your dad's succulents look really good.
