Weekends

Good morning!  My weekend was glorious and I hope yours was as well.  We had our son for a long weekend because he had a one month Lasik recheck (all is well).  After a dinner at home on Friday night of burgers, home made fries and corn on the cob, we took a walk down the dirt road because the weather was picture perfect.

If I could bottle up this low humidity and cool breezes I would, I was loving the chill in the air in the mornings and wearing a sweatshirt.

Friday morning we had house well water woes, however a plumber quickly came and repaired a water tank switch.  So far we think the water is fixed after a brief hiccup on Saturday morning.  I am speeding through my showers just in case.

Saturday morning we headed off to our friend's lake house for a family picnic.  What fun!  There was good company, perfect weather, fun music and delicious food all day long.

Sunday our son left after lunch and I buzzed through the house doing all of my chores quickly.  In the afternoon, I sat and knitted on the banana leaf shawl.  I loved the quiet house, the back door opened to cool breezes and the distant hum of people mowing their lawns.

How was your weekend?

  1. My weekend went by in a flash with traveling, chores, a family event, traveling some more, and no knitting time. I hope to remedy that today!

  2. I am jealous of your cool mornings. We won't see cpolness.for another 6 weeks. Your weekend sounds wonderful. So nice to have an adult child in the house now and then. We were busy this past weekend with a Marian conference. It was the perfect setting to sit, pray and knit.

  3. Ahhh, wasn't the weather perfect?? I wore a sweatshirt at night and it felt so good! My weekend had some frustrations, but some good things too (getting together with Dee, knitting, good food, etc.). Now it's back to work. Glad your son's check up was good!

  4. Sounds like a great weekend. Sorry to hear that your son has not been well, but glad to hear that the checkup went well. We have a lovely weekend too we have had a bonus extra day here in England so have had three family days, rather than two, helping friends to move house, a day pottering together at home with a swim in the village outdoor pool and then a bike ride with friends today. Perfect!

  7. What a fun weekend, Karen! Ours was quiet; I returned home from my yoga retreat with a case of shingles so I spent most of the weekend resting. Luckily I caught them in time and the anti-viral medication I am on is working like a charm! I've had very little pain. I'm so glad your son's checkup went well! : )

  8. So glad all is well with your son's vision and that you enjoyed his company over the weekend. Quiet weekend here but that is fine with me. Our weather has been cooler too - finally. I split my free time (after chores) between a sewing and a knitting project. The Farmer's Market was bustling with people shopping for all the fresh summer produce.

  10. It was a good weekend here. Zach and Fireman and I went to see my father and uncle for dinner in chicago . It was my second time seeing my dad since my mother died. He pretty much behaved. We watched a lot of Cubs baseball. I got my knitting under control.

  12. Oh! I want a golden doodle SO bad! Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I spent mine at work but we were experiencing some beautiful, lower temps and humidity weather so no complaints.

  15. It sounds like you had a great time with your son visiting. I know it is that time of the year when we are enjoying the warmth but also anticipating the coming fall and feeling that little chill in the air. Your shawl looks great so far!
