Weekends

Over the weekend I received a copy of the book Farm Girl by Corinne Cunningham, a friend on instagram.  I won the copy on twitter, how cool is that.  I've known Corinne many years and heard all about the journey of writing this book.  I'm happy for her that her book is a reality.  I'm also happy to be reading it.

My weekend was quiet and I made sure I was out walking every day to soak up the colors of fall.  The rainstorm on Saturday night made tons of leaves fall from the trees.  So pretty to see!

We picked up dinners for the weekend instead of cooking, giving me lots of time to rest.  I read a lot and knitted a lot.  I'd like to finish some of my projects this week, let's see if that becomes reality.

I finished the first pair of mitts and now started a second pair of mitts for holiday gift giving in the same colorway.  I unearthed some odd skeins in what looks like the same dyelot so I shoud get a second pair done easily.

How was your weekend?

  1. Uneventful and restful! A much needed combination. I too managed to finish a project and eagerly began swatching for a new sweater! (And, aren't the colors just glorious?)

  2. So nice to have a slow weekend to recover, and added bonus- not having to cook! WOW, you sure are slamming out those mitts and they are lovely! I haven't started Christmas gifts yet, not sure if I am going to do much homemade stuff. Would love to stroll down your lane, all the fall colors look beautiful and cozy. Here in NoColorado, cold and snow! Not as much snow as predicted but a couple of inches. Have 2 more days of this weather and Halloween for the kiddos looks be COLD! Some years are like that. Have a great Monday!

  3. My weekend was full of yard work, rain, and baking, with just enough time before my eyes drifted shut for a few rows of knitting. I hope the rest did you good and you're feeling much better now!

  4. That sounds like a book I'd love to read! I love your fall pictures. I really have to tell myself that this is not how fall weather turns out in The Netherlands (it's just rainy and gray and the leaves usually blow off the trees before they can show off their fall colors), because otherwise I might feel like I'm missing something with my year-round summer around here...
My weekend was a mix of fun (thrift shopping, craft shopping, sewing) and being sick.

  5. I like the cover of Farm Girl and look forward to hearing what your thoughts are. Good to hear you're taking care of yourself and that you're feeling better and relaxing. I've been a slug for weeks and now it's too cold to be outdoors. Winter has arrived!

  6. I have Farm Girl as well and can hardly wait to begin reading it. My mom spotted it on my coffee table when she visited and took it home to read first, LOL! She really enjoyed it. Our weekend was a mix of busy and quiet, a wedding reception on Saturday, a few days spent with my oldest daughter (which was so lovely), watching Penn State win and the Giants lose. A real mixed bag! : )

  7. The colours look beautiful round your way, glad you got out for a few walks to enjoy them. Sounds like you had a lovely quiet weekend. Ours was full of tidying and unpacking, I also managed to spend a few hours in the garden tidying things up ready for the winter.

  12. Beautiful fall photos! We had blustery, rain last night and woke up to a yard full of leaves and a few of them even have color. We didn't get much color this year because we didn't get rain for a little over two months. Very weird for our area. Happy knitting!
