Weekends

Good morning!  How was your weekend?  Mine was busy.  I went to see my sister and brother in law on Saturday who delightfully surprised my husband with a retirement present (yay retired!!)  We had a lovely time in their backyard enjoying the butterfly garden or should I say sanctuary?

Her garden is registered as a monarch wildlife something or other...I cannot remember what the title is.

Above is a newly hatched (born?) butterfly.  They act a bit slow when they emerge as they pump their wings and then get going onto living life.  We had a great time visiting and being with them.  My husband and I stayed at hotel. I'm amused that I get excited about staying at a hotel but once arriving I am missing my home.   My bed is the best bed and my home doesn't have little people (sounded like a preschooler to me) running up and down the hallways at 11 o'clock at night yelling, of course there was an adult with letting them be loud.

Yesterday I attended a bridal shower that was socially distant and it was so nice to see a few family members.  After the celebration, my husband and I headed home.  Believe it or not, I got all of my laundry done last night!

My husband is thrilled to be retired and is enjoying the fact that checking emails multiple times a day and zoom meetings are a thing of the past.  Not to mention the stress of everyone needing something done.

How was your weekend?

  1. Yay for your husband's retirement - he certainly looks happy!! And I can relate to the joy of not having to check emails multiple times per day (though I am still doing that...). What a great shot of that little butterfly. So beautiful. Glad you had such a nice weekend.

  3. What a special place your sister has. To be surrounded by butterflies would be lovely. Your husband looks very happy with his new lifestyle. What cute shower favors you received. Very clever too. Sounds like a lovely weekend for the two of you. Ours was a stay at home weekend. I rearranged part of my kitchen and worked on my knitting and crochet projects. Hubby watched golf, baseball and nascar.

  5. Congrats on your husband's retirement! I have loved being retired. My husband - I think he would rather be working - he gets bored easily. I do not - LOL!

  7. Your DH looks very happy to be retired! Our weekend was uneventful and hot for our part of the world. One of our local deer visited and dined on our 3 new hostas as well as all the blossoms on one geranium and all the buds on one little rose. That did not make me happy!

  9. That is so cool how their garden is a butterfly sanctuary. When we redo our backyard one day I'll have to include plants and flowers to foster butterfly and bee visits.

That's nice that you got to visit both your sister and attend a baby shower.
How interesting that her garden is deemed a butterfly sanctuary of sorts.
