Setting Intentions

Oh September thank goodness you are finally here.  September hasn't been one of my favorite months because it tends to be hot and summery.  However, September leads to October and I am all for that month!  There were a couple of cool mornings this past week with low humidity that hinted of fantastic weather to come.  Yesterday the humidity was back and I hid inside the house doing my crafts.

My September goals are quite minimalistic.  I want to read, knit, work on my artistic skills and journal.  For quite some time I was reading a lot in June and July but August was not a reading month.  I don't have a reason but I can reset and focus.

I want my sketching and watercoloring to improve and the only way that can happen is to do it more than once a week.  Do you get into ruts?  You know, the kind that you do everything else but what you really want to do.  I'm not sure why I sabotage my own goals.

My journalling and keeping track of what is important is helping immensely.

My knitting goals are focusing on holiday knitting. Of course, the wedding shawl continues to be my favorite knit in the evening, I'm over half way done and will be sad when it's complete.  It's such a lovely knit to have on my lap.

My intention most of all for September is to not wish it away.  I want to enjoy the last bits of summer, go for a picnic and fit in some hikes.  Before you know it we'll be wearing jackets and mitts.

Do you have any September goals or intentions?

  1. Like you I hope to enjoy the month. Some knitting and stitching, some good walks/hikes. Getting into Fall cooking! And...the wedding is only about 5 weeks away!

  2. September is when school starts again so I am incredibly busy with lectures and grading. This year all is done from my home, but I think that will be more difficult as I will be spending all day, every day at my desk in front of my computer instead of walking around a classroom. The weather here has been hinting at Fall too. Some hot days, some cooler days and cool nights. I love them all. Enjoy that beautiful knitting and I hope you work more on your watercolors.

  3. My September goal is like yours, to try and enjoy it instead of complaining. I've got it pretty good, nobody in my immediate family is sick, nor am I, and I'm here. (And I also need to finish my baby blanket!)

  4. I do have some definite goals...and I've become quite the 'list-maker'...I'm planning on finishing an afghan that I started over a year ago in our Prayer Shawl Ministry at Church...I was gathering some granny squares from other members to include in the afghan and I think I have enough now...and going through and using up yarn in my stash instead of buying any new yarn is a definite goal for the year end...
    ~Have a lovely day!

  5. You have such wonderful goals. I am sure you will achieve them. My goal this month is to complete the socks I have on the needles, get to the halfway point on the blanket I am crocheting, and cast on new projects. I am thinking 2 new projects.

  6. I think a minimalist approach to goals it a good one. I hope to savor each September day and continue to make and create.

  7. I am working on slowing down and savoring.

  8. I love that you set goals to help you keep on track. My goal is to continue to keep my life simple and easeful for as long as possible, I don't want to go back to the crazy busy life we used to have.

  9. I have a long list of goals for the month mainly Christmas related so should be fun. Simplicity remains our keyword for the moment.

  10. My biggest September goal is to stay healthy. I love the idea of making goals for each month. Hope you September is awesome. We will have a hot weekend, then it starts cooling way down here. Fall is definitely on the way. Have a wonderful weekend.

  11. Yes. Specifically, Im hosting my friend Kath and her man because they are driving from Los Angeles to Chicago because her brother is very ill. She will stay with us a few days , in an area of the house that is separate from the main areas. It its' going to be a fun visit per say. But I need to be here for her. And helping her will help me!

  12. Socks! And I ordered yarn for Christmas gifts which (I hope) will be here soon. I was the same way, lots of intentions and then who knows what popped up. So I started a bullet journal. I didn't think it was helping much, so in August I stopped using it. After 2 weeks I realized I was using it more than I thought and started it again. Decorating it also makes me do some sketching (at least for a couple of days), and keeping the habit tracker (for walks, writing, and sketching) has been a real motivator. I love your little scarecrow!

  13. I really have no goals except to get mountains of paper work done, September is a busy month for that. I want to finish my latest crochet sweater and try not to get so overwhelmed. Sounds simple enough, right? Stay safe.

  14. My plan is to try to sew a garment or at least start working on one. I am thinking of trying a print shop as the patterns I want to try are usually in PDF form.

  15. One of my favorite things about September is that October is next month! I think your sketching is looking good ... pretty sure I have that exact same TN cover :-)
