Weekends
Hello! My it's been a while since I've posted. My mini break was restorative, quiet and overall nice. Christmas this year was simplified with just the two of us. We had a nice time together. We watched all the Lord of the Rings Trilogy over the past few days and now have started the Harry Potter movies.
I am soooo close to finishing the blanket - less that 6 rows! I was aiming to finish it last night but I got too tired and marathon knitting with cotton isn't a good thing for my hands. Maybe today is THE day of finishing it!
Brie of Documented Journey provided some December prompts that I enjoyed this holiday season. I stumbled upon her you-tube channel and then you know what happens with unexpected rabbit holes...you tumble down and enjoy the ride.
Frodo loved his new little toy stuffy that Santa brought him. Holly is in LOVE with her new little mice - you find them sprinkled here and there throughout the house. She loves to play catch with them and place them in her water bowl.
How were your celebrations?
Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend. The blanket is beautiful..... I know what you mean about knitting with cotton...it's hard on my hands also. I liken it to "pushing dirt".
ReplyDeleteSo glad your Christmas was pleasant. Ours was quite nice too. Nothing extravagant. Pretty low key this year. I had a chuckle about Holly and her mice. Every cat I had put their toys in their water dish. Never could figure that out. I am sure you will be glad when the blanket is done. Cotton is so hard on the hands. What will be up next on your needles?
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was quiet and lovely. And do I see a Strand Bookstore box? New books in your stack?
ReplyDeleteSounds like your Christmas was relaxing...perfect, I'd say :)
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas was much the same as yours - quiet, low-key, but nice. I've been watching the Harry Potter movies and might need to watch Lord of the Rings next!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice, peaceful Christmas. Charly and I have also been watching lots of movies and Netflix. It can be an enjoyable and relaxing way to spend some downtime. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter sound just perfect for holiday viewing. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteOh the pets had a great time here too!!
ReplyDeleteThat blanket is so amazing. Are you going to block it ?
I dont know if youare supposed to or not. I mean its going to get all lovingly crunched up soon!
It sounds like you had a great time. I love watching those movies and nice you could marathon them and relax. That is great you are almost done the blanket, you reminded me, I need to get started on knitting a baby blanket for my sister she is due in April next year. Lovely water color and glad Frodo and Holly also enjoyed their gifts! my Christmas was Liam and I spending time together opening gifts, going for a walk, and doing a lot of zoom calls with family. It was nice and also relaxing not driving anywhere the past few days. Take care!
ReplyDeleteOur celebrations were just lovely, fairly calm and quiet, but just perfect. Looking forward to seeing your finished blanket! I found you whilst blog hopping, be lovely to see you over on mine at emeraldcottage.blogspot.com

I worried our celebration would be, well rather uncelebratory, but they were absolutely not! We had a lovely long weekend and it was a glorious weekend! :) I am glad yours was too!
ReplyDeleteKola likes to put her felt balls in the water bowl, too!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to watch the HP movies. But that means ordering DVDs from Netflix!
Gorgeous sunset photo.
We had a quiet but lovely holiday. Snow fell on Wednesday so we had a White Christmas and then it warmed enough for a walk on Christmas Day. We watched a Christmas Eve service. I did all the food prep on Tuesday and Wednesday so Christmas Day Brunch was uncomplicated. I knit in the afternoon and evening.
ReplyDeleteYour holiday sounds lovely. Hope you've now finished that blanket ... yeah, cotton can be tough on the hands and elbows!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice, quiet holiday. Ours wasn't exactly quiet, but we had a great Christmas. Love that water color painting.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Sounds pretty perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the animals had fun as well - why do cats put their play mice in their water dishes - ours do that too!
Yay for new toys to play with. Minnie will sometimes play with the catnip mice or a forgotten elastic hairband. Otherwise she's rubbing up against us, kissing butt for food, or sleeping.
