Weekends
Gosh it seems like forever since I've talked to you and yet it's not even been five days. How are you? How was your Christmas if you celebrate Christmas? We had a quiet one, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I missed the kids but we managed to talk to them over the weekend.
On Christmas Eve, we were invited to celebrate at my sister and brother in law's house with her son and son's family and our aunt and cousin. It was nice! We had lots and lots of good food and unwrapping of presents. Having my grand nephew who is almost one year old made the holiday more joyful.
That evening my husband and I had a mini-miracle - Holly snuck in to snuggle up to my husband on his left side and then Frodo jumped up to snuggle on his right side. Look at Holly's dirty look!?! She is a hoot. I know you are wondering and NO Frodo did not realize that she is sitting there, if he did he would have chased her and barked at her and that is the Christmas miracle. I don't know what it is about Christmas time but there's been extra activity between these two pets.
Yesterday I started a cowl for ME. Yes, you read that correctly - sure I have my sister's sweater to complete but I decided to treat myself to some indulgent knitting. I have so many plans for what I want to knit this upcoming month. However I need to finish her sweater - I am on the first sleeve though!!
The days between Christmas and New Year's Day are some of my favorite days, it's like a calm lull that is quiet and comforting. We are doing our best to not run around and just relax at home.
How was your holidays? How was your weekend?
Love that cowl you have chosen to knit for yourself. What yarn and what colors are you using? I have lots of knitting plans/wishes too. for now I am still working on the holiday socks, but there has not been much knitting lately. I hope to remedy that today!
ReplyDeletethe yarn is shibui knits Cima and the colors are a dark brown, gray and a light cream.
DeleteThe peace between Holly and Frodo is a Christmas miracle! I thought Holly was looking a bit sad and hoping she could also be petted or have her ears scratched. Even if it was short-lived, it was still a nice moment between them (with your husband actually between them).
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable pair of Christmas Miracles! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that cowl!
Can't wait to see your color choices for the cowl. I, too, enjoy the week between Christmas and New Years.....enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for Christmas miracles. We had nice peaceful Christmas weekend. This year it was the two of us and FaceTime. We walked on a trail in the woods on Christmas afternoon. The day was sunny and relatively warm for December. This week my sister and her husband are coming over for dinner so that will be nice. After they leave, I'll be ready to un-decorate and do a good cleaning.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely holiday. I love that you are knitting something for yourself. We are on a mid-winter getaway out of the snow this week - in San Antonio, TX. We are missing out on a lot of snow up in Utah. Have a good week and Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteWe managed to travel out to see my mom, and that in and of itself is a miracle. We haven’t seen her since we left after my father died in March 2020. And while there are many restrictions in place that prevent us from going out much, I am grateful for the days with not much to do to recharge my somewhat depleted batteries. That photo of your critters cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever knit for myself but hope to remedy that this year. This year is an imposed slow down after Christmas. My daughter's partner wasn't feeling good Christmas eve and it has taken him until later this week for a test :-( So the rest of the week's plans are cancelled. So far HB and I are symptom free ------ fingers crossed. Happy New Year ----- let's hope so :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDelete...we had a busy Christmas weekend...Church of course on Christmas Eve and again on the Sunday after...then my family came for the Crazy Santa party...Christmas day was spent Facetiming with the kiddos in Japan and getting ready for the party on Sunday...I'm glad yours was nice and quiet...
~Have a lovely day!
So cute seeing your pets together! It's nice you are finding time to knit for yourself and enjoy the holidays too! Hopefully you are able to finish everything you have planned to make!
ReplyDeleteit's good you had a lovely Christmas with family too! We had a great one visiting both sides of the family and having a wonderful time :)
Away From The Blue
Your Christmas weekend sounds wonderful. It was a quiet one for us, the four of us at home. I too love the week in between Christmas and New Year. Happy Cowl knitting x
