Home Stretch
Right before I fell asleep last night I came up with a really good blog post title. I woke up this morning wondering what it was. I think it was 'home stretch' but I'll never know. Home stretch as in I am nearing the end of the gift knitting.
I am so close to finishing knitting for the holidays. That gets me giddy! I'll be done earlier than ever before. The above photo is an extra large dishcloth that will be a 'cat mat' or a cat blanket for my daughter's cat. Her cat loves to cuddle up and sleep in all the unusual places and I thought these little blankets (the plan is to make two) would make it extra cosy for her. I know Holly would lay on it.
Frodo is now 13 years old. He is as spunky as ever but has some elevated liver enzymes that the current vet is treating, this isn't a new thing it's been there for a few years. Overall he is doing great.
Our backyard is a sea of oak leaves, one of my most favorite trees. We had 'tree people' here yesterday to take down two dead trees that leaned into other trees in our woods. They were here all day long because the trees refused to fall! So glad that they were doing the dangerous work and not my husband.
November is looking beautiful and we will be having record high temps this weekend. Fantastic walking weather!
Your gift knitting is all wonderful. Love the sweater you just finished for your grandson. The pattern/yarn/color are all perfect together. I have half of my gift knitting done. Usually I make 10 pair of socks, several hats and a few small sweaters. This year, just three pair of socks and one little sweater. Can't wait to see your finished kitty blankies.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on nearing the end of your gift knitting! I don't know how much I'll do, but I did promise my husband a hat and I haven't even started it. I often have trouble thinking up titles for blog posts, so maybe I'll have to them about it as I'm falling asleep!
ReplyDeleteLovely to have such a head start!
ReplyDeleteHome stretch is a good place to be!
ReplyDeleteThis weather is just insane! Beautiful knitting...and gorgeous images!
ReplyDeleteWow, you're on top of things! I always think I'm not going to do any holiday knitting and then, in November, I think "well, maybe..." So I usually end up finishing just in time.
ReplyDeleteI love oak trees too!
Good job on getting gift making done so early. Frodo looks great for 13. My old gal is 16 and we are seeing signs of dementia in her. She still loves her food, rides in the car, walks and especially bedtime treats. Our weather turned cold here yesterday. Lows in the 49s and highs in then60s. This is our normal winter temps so was quite a shock for it to be here this early.
ReplyDeleteI love your cat blankets, what a great idea, gorgeous colour too. Frodo is doing well for 13. Enjoy your lovely weather.
ReplyDeleteI love your property. It looks like you have a big yard with lots of nice trees. So glad you were able to get the problem trees removed and that your hubby didn't need to do it himself. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThe home stretch for holiday gift knitting is a good place to be. Hooray. Frodo wears his age well. Our warm weather must have moved East to you. Yesterday the high was 76, today is a chilly 44 but like you I welcome the cooler weather. Your back yard looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe were away the last two days and surely enjoying the elevated temps. I like the idea of the cat mats. Frodo looks quite perky for his advanced years. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYeah for Home Stretch! You are ahead of the game, and I wish I were, too! Hope you enjoy what's left of the weekend. Hugs from WA.
