Knitting News
Good morning!
I have been working on this blanket (for a friend's first grand) exclusively since last week and am so close to being done. Sadly, it is not done for today but that's okay, I'm confident I will be casting off by the weekend or on Saturday at the latest.
Once this blanket is done, I am free and clear of knitting for other people. However, my husband has worn through two more (!) pairs of hand knit socks. If the sock yarn is regia or trekking xl, they last 2+ years. Malabrigo sock yarn lasted 13 months. So you know I will be knitting socks for him. Sock knitting will be a lovely switch after the blanket knitting mania.
What are you working on this week?
Beautiful color on that blanket, Karen! I bet that will be a favorite gift!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous blue for the blanket. Sock knitting will feel so light in your hands after knitting blankets!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is beautiful. My favorite baby knit is a blanket because it can last through time being past down too.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is lovely, but you deserve to knit a few pairs of socks after all this baby knitting!
ReplyDeleteI'm crocheting (!!) a shawl for one of our upcoming confirmands ... haven't crocheted in a long while and I'm happy I remembered how to do it! (well, at least the double crochet stitch which is the only one my pattern uses)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great color for a baby blanket Karen. I’m still working on my pullover, socks and a new cast on.
ReplyDeleteAre you able to darn the socks? I have some mending to do this week, on the kids pajamas, also where their feet have worn holes in the footie.
ReplyDeleteKaren, that baby blanket is absolutely gorgeous! I love the color! I'm sure your hubby enjoys having a wife who can knit him socks when he needs them. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the blanket and it looks so nice! that's good you will be done knitting for others after the blanket and can cast on something for you that you want to make :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet blue color for a baby blanket. You have made many from that pattern. You must enjoy it. The Malabrigo sock yarn from a number of years ago did not have any nylon in it. I'm not sure about their more recent yarns. I get lots of wear from Regia and Opal.
ReplyDeleteThat's one lucky baby to get such a pretty a handknit blanket! It's sad when handknit socks wear out, isn't it? Men's socks sure take longer than those for women/girls, don't they?
ReplyDeleteI love the blue sweater...the color just pops! One lucky little boy! I have been doubling the yarn on the heel for my husband's socks. Sometimes it works and sometimes he gets holes in the sole part. I guess the good thing is they wear them! Can't wait to see what you start next.
