Hocking Hills
Last Thursday, we left with my husband's brother and sister in law to go to Hocking Hills, Ohio to meet up with our son, daughter in law and our grandkids at a lodge rental in the woods until Monday morning. We had so much fun! We did some hiking and ate out at restaurants and did the tiniest bit of shopping.
Our grandson loved being outside, collecting rocks and other treasures. Our granddaughter crawls and sits up and loved to make a beeline for an outlet or a cord (who wouldn't??). Our grandson is in the terrible twos stage and had a melt down at least once a day. I wish I could act like that when I am discontent - It would be cathartic and freeing, but kind of alienating to those around me. Being the Grammy, I found it endearing but little too loud.
We had nice weather, chilly but mostly dry. I was disappointed in the lack of cell phone reception at the lodge but they had mediocre wifi so I was connected sporadically. Since we both have elderly parents, I want that connection in case there is an emergency.
I am grateful that his brother and sister in law were able to vacation with us. We had fun and I loved sitting out on the deck 'knitting' (i.e. talking) with them while the babies had their naps.
As you know, I love being home and being back to ordinary days. I've enjoyed the peace and stillness that coming home brings.
What fun! Rock collecting is something that I still do today! Your dear grandson is in good company! Welcome home though... have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice time visiting. Unplugging is hard when you have the responsibility of family but is so refreshing sometimes. I too enjoy the tranquility of home. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really nice family getaway in a beautiful place! So glad you could go. I would like to visit and hike at Hocking Hills if I ever get back that way. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a nice time. We loved Hocking Hills when we were there a few years back - what a gorgeous place! But, it is good to be home for sure!
ReplyDeleteGlad your enjoyed your time with your family. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home. I'm glad you had such a nice trip.
ReplyDeleteI have to restrain myself from collecting too many rocks! I would have come home with pocketfulls myself!
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely, and the scenery looks awesome !
ReplyDeleteWe used to live near Hocking Hills when we were in Ohio. Such a beautiful place! Reality is that I'm disappointed when we have poor cell phone coverage, isn't that sad? I wish we could live as we did before cell phones and wifi everywhere, but I feel like I can't.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I'm laughing at how many times I had to read your first sentence. I kept reading that you "let" you husband's people go, not that you "left with" your husband's people. Your way makes much more sense. :) Ahh, the terrible 2's. Fun times. Hayden had a meltdown the other day over something Completely ridiculous and all I could think of was what will she be like when puberty hits. Good grief! I hope to live in a different state by then! ha ha. Sounds like you had a fun weekend despite the noise and lack of internet.
