Beginning and Finishing
Good morning! How are you? Are you in the heat wave? I am trying my best to ignore this weather but I have to confess, I'm dreaming of autumn. This will not serve me well, so I pushed the desire deep in my soul and I'm trying to see the beauty of summer while ignoring the heat and humidity. It's always a challenge.
Frodo and I are walking at 7 am this week. We are both bleary-eyed and tired but at least we are somewhat comfortable for a 20 minute walk. He continues to do well. He is now on a special prescription low fat diet because he is a schnauzer with a sensitive stomach. He loves the food! He is worth every penny. We are in our bonus years with him. Every morning when I wake up and he wakes up I say to him (he can't hear but I think he feels my sentiment) 'we have another day together!!'. He will be 15 years old in October! What an old old man who is living his best life!
I wound up this skein of super scrumptious yarn that my daughter and son in law gave me for Mother's Day. It is Nightshades by Harrisville Designs. I wish you could see this in person. I plan to make this mitten pattern but I haven't started as of yet. The live close enough to visit this company in person.
I am trying to finish reading Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson. I am doing my best to read at least one chapter a day if not two chapters (which takes up all of my free time in the afternoon). I believe I am 3/4ths of the way through. This book was a recommendation last fall in one of my classes. I'm glad I'm reading it but I want the book to be done. The lazy days of summer and book reading remind me of my childhood.
This weather is tough to ignore! I'm glad Frodo is doing better and it sounds wonderful to make his "elderly" years as good as possible. (And look how well he poses with that yarn!)
ReplyDeleteSweet, sweet Frodo. I'm so glad he is doing well and that he likes his new food!! Your new yarn is so pretty and that mitten pattern is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you have these bonus years with Frodo. Such good vet care and food options for dogs these days. Our daughter’s dog has a sensitive digestion system and they have found some very good options.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that this weather is not a harbinger for what the summer will be like. I confess to having a bit of sadness on me over those thoughts! But for now, my tomatoes are loving these warm days and nights! (a small blessing... )
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that dear Frodo is doing well! Sherman and I are very happy about that!
I'm right there with you, friend, when it comes to this heat and trying to enjoy summer, but a hint of fall would be wonderful. The humidity definitely doesn't set well with the joints. I'm so glad to hear that Frodo is doing well now and glad that he likes his new food. He's so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Frodo is doing better. I'm sorry Summer is not your favorite time of year. I love summer with Fall being my second favorite season. I'm in the same boat with my Lewey. He will be 17 in August. Looking forward to seeing those mittens you knit up with that beautiful yarn!
ReplyDeleteIt is hot here in Utah as well, but we don't have the humidity. I am glad that Frodo is doing so much better. I love your beautiful hydrangea. Mine are coming out as well. I hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about wanting it to be fall! Summer is nice for vacations but is so hot. Enjoy knitting with your wound up yarn! good Frodo likes the food he's having.
ReplyDeleteAnd summer just started, hope the humidity wanes! We also wake early to so those things like weeding in the garden before it's too hot, then spend time at the lake or another cool spot. The yarn sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe heat has been absolutley awful!! Our pool water went from 76 to 87 degrees in just a few days because of the heat. Glad Frodo is doing well and y'all are able to get a walk in each day despite the heat. Happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteI love your wonderful morning greeting to Frodo. We experienced some hot days in Ct. as baseball spectators. It's hot and muggy in Lincoln today. The weeds and the garden are growing if we can keep everything watered.
