Spread Joy

Before I even get into spreading joy, look at that beautiful array of Halloween stuff! The seasons are changing and I am ready for it. This past week, my husband and I have been doing after dinner walks since the weather has been so very nice. I know it's going to be hot again, but for now I can pretend Fall is around the bend. I continue to do my daily morning walks without a dog and now they can approach a cardio workout. Frodo was s l o w.

My elbow is improving but it aches a lot if I do stuff. I won't even say 'over do it' it just all depends. By the end of the day I'm like 'oof'. I see the ortho doctor for a check up and I hope I either have physical therapy or clearance to do whatever I wish.

Yesterday, I decided to spread joy. I went to our local farmer's market and had a fruit basket made up so I could take it over to the vet and her staff to thank them for all that they did for Frodo. They were all so happy and I found out that two other dogs that same day went over the rainbow bridge with Frodo. Gah. What a hard job to do! What a crappy Monday!

I'm planning next week or so to take some treats to the kennel and the groomer. Spreading joy is so much fun and it makes me so happy to thank all the people who loved Frodo as much as I did.

We are planning to be a cat family only for now, we want to have freedom to see our out of town grandchildren and do some other long day trips spontaneously. Bittersweet decisions.

Speaking of love, or tolerance, ha ha., Holly has been coming out more and more now that her nemesis is gone. We have been delighted to see her come out to visit us and get some much needed attention. I hear more zooming back and forth upstairs as well. We have been calling her the Queen Bee and love her and her bravery to be in the dog zone of the house. Baby steps.

I purchased the 'remember' rock as well at the farmer's market which we will place somewhere in the back garden near by a newly planted mum. There was a corner of the patio garden that Frodo loved to cut through and has worn a little foot path so my husband planted the mum in that spot. Now to see if those pesky deer are going to eat it! If they do I will buy another one.

Thank you all for visiting, commenting, reading! This community that we built is so special and dear to me. We uphold each other and that is a beautiful thing to witness.

  1. This week has had me thinking of fall with these temps, but next week we are back to summer! Sigh. I have enjoyed the kids waiting for the bus each morning and watching them come home in the afternoon. Summer or not, there is a new flow to the days and I like it!

  2. You've chosen some lovely ways to spread joy despite feeling sad with Frodo's passing. Justin's girlfriend is a vet tech and she often talks about how difficult days are for them when their pet clients are suffering. Holly is probably enjoying her Queen Bee status (and maybe even missing Frodo, too).

  3. I totally agree with you, Karen...spreading joy is so much fun! The joy you spread this week is very special though because you put aside the sadness that losing Frodo brought to express gratitude to people who lovingly took care of him. Sending love to you, my friend. xx

  4. Bless you for being kind to all the people who took care of Frodo. My BFF works at a vet and says rainbow bridge days affect everyone in the office. And more often than not, the entire team will end up in tears with the owners. The groomer and kennel will also share in your sadness but appreciate your joyful gift. Holly looks like she is adjusting to being a Queen. She may end up being your knitting companion.

  5. Spreading joy to those who helped with Frodo is a generous thing to do. The vet that cares for my daughter's dog lights a candle in the office during the time a pet goes over the rainbow bridge. Holly makes a nice Queen Bee.

  6. What a lovely and considerate way to spread joy ! ( I may have to borrow this idea someday.. ). This morning has a chill and clouds here, I too, can pretend autumn ( and love it ) ! Let's just forget about the forecast for the afternoon...hahaha
A lovely remember stone that is. What is a mum ? Google only comes up with mothers, so no help there... And go Holly, she looks brave indeed !

    1. a mum is a shorten word for the flower chrysanthemum - it blooms in the fall!

  7. We became a cat family several years ago. While I miss my dog greatly, I enjoy the freedom. I like to put out big bowls of food and water and a clean litterpan and then jump in the car for a few days away. It allows us freedom now, yet we still have a loved pet. You will decide what is best for you I am sure....

  8. Your Queen Bee is gorgeous...and has certainly gotten bigger!! How nice to spread joy the way you have...so thoughtful. It's good to hear that you are still walking in the morning...I'm sure that is not always easy, but hopefully your memories will be a balm to you. I like your "Remember" rock. The lovely weather of last week has turned back to pretty warm now. I'm trying to enjoy these fleeting August days as I dream of Fall crisp days!

  9. You are spreading Joy in a most amazing way. Truly an inspiration. We are just a cat family now, and when something happens to him, I don't think we will get another fur baby...so we can travel more.
