Beautiful Days

How are you? How has your week been?

We've had glorious weather this past week and every single day I am outside taking a walk and just drinking in the coolness and the soft signs of fall. Supposedly this weekend will be chilly, I am all in! Some of the trees are turning ever so slightly. When I walk in the morning, I am delighted to wave 'hi' to the school bus as it drives by.

My non-credit classes start next week and just like when I was a younger, I am eager for school to start. If you have a local university check out to see if they offer any classes for older adults - it is very enriching. I've made so many friends and of course I'm learning new stuff. I've realized that I like learning just about anything. I do try to choose classes where I do not have to participate much. Just dump the information into my head!

Holly continues to be a very brave cat. She will sometimes come and visit us during dinner for some pets. She loves to walk through the family room (on high alert, so brave) and do a walk about then she stops at Frodo's water bowl to have a drink (we've kept the bowl knowing she drinks out of it in defiance of him). She continues to scan for Frodo. Maybe she misses his antics? We love her so.

I am writing my Christmas to do lists this month trying to wrap my brain around what I need to get done before the holidays and yet pace myself and enjoy the process. I continue to feel like I am ahead of schedule. I start shopping this month believe it or not. When the kids were little I would start at the end of September slowly gathering gifts each weekend so that I was not in a mad dash the month of December. This of course was physical shopping back in the day, now I can do on-line shopping for some of the presents. If I can avoid being in crowds in December, I am all in.

These beautiful autumnal-like days just fill me with peace and contentment. I love when one season hints at another. How lucky I am to witness Mother Nature.

  3. That sounds like a wonderful idea - checking out adult classes at the community college. What course(s) are you taking this semester? I am trying to do an ASL class just now. It is online and I am finding it challenging not having a "life" teacher to ask questions, etc.

  4. I've so enjoyed these past few mornings walking. I think we are getting some rain tomorrow. I'll be heading to the farm to collect C&M's produce, then we are going out to lunch. I want to see if one of our. local colleges offer Tai Chi - I would love that!

  7. Lovely post. So glad you are enjoying the days of late summer. We have a lot of universities and college around here. I know that the University of Utah (my alma mater) does have very reasonably priced classes for older adults. I may look into that when I retire. In the meantime, I enjoy BYU Education Week and online classes about history and politics from Hillsdale College. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Sounds like perfect planning. I am trying to wean myself off of part time work because it has been hard being retired and thinking I am not contributing as much as I used to. Struggle with the 60's part of my life, but becoming more and more content. I love your attitude about life......

  9. So inspiring! I'd love to take a natural or life drawing class. For now, we're enjoying fall and pressed our 1st batch of apples for cider.

  11. What a beautifully worded post! I'm sure Holly misses Frodo. That's sweet that you left her his bowl to drink out of.
